i did alot of research and read studies before i started taking methylene blue. because of that, one of the things i’ve noticed, as it has become more popular, is that the dosages on ALL of the retail bottles ive seen are wrong. or at least do not reflect the minimum dosages listed in the studies to achieve the desired results. which is leading me to start researching other supplements, as im sure this phenomenon is not isolated.

I do know that the recommended daily intake of micronutrients is wildly innacurate or made up, so this doesn't surprise me.
Isn't the recommended Vit D dose something like a third of an optimal minimum dose because they discovered it during one of the world wars and knew it was needed, but weren't sure what an upper threshold should be?
not sure. but im trying to find info on stuff like this now
I know that fiber is unnecessary, unless you eat the SAD diet. Carnivores live and thrive without any fiber. Also, the actual amount of vitamin C needed is considerably reduced in carnivore.
I disagree. Carnivore diet probably gives you all the macronutrients you need, but it comes with an increased risk in colon cancer. Fiber on the other hand reduces the risk by diluting detrimental compounds and reducing transit time. Your gut microbiome also benefits. Iron overload of your GI tract by eating a lot of red meat results in increased oxidative stress. Vitamin C as an potent antioxidant might be able to reduce this.
I looked into it and hit a wall when trying to figure out proper dosage + the variance in quality and reputable of any of the sellers of it. Do you have a recommended brand, vendor, and regimen you can recommend?
After looking into it, I also decided to give it a try. I would assume my mitochondria as being in relatively good shape after a couple years of low-carb eating. My energy levels were fine, I didn't have any brain fog, so no real reason to try it other than just general curiosity.
I started at what the bottle described as 20mg (8 drops). After 15 minutes, I didn't feel at all well. Flushed, maybe even feverish, a little itchy, and just generally ill. That went away after an hour or so, gradually. I think I did the same thing for a few days with similar results, before deciding to halve my dose. Even at 10mg, I still feel it, but it is only mildly unpleasant. I may halve it again.
I haven't noticed extra energy or mental clarity. I'm hoping that even at a low dose, I may get some of the positive cellular effects.
While I was at it, I also got an iodone supplement. Even living coastally, I figured a little extra wouldn't hurt since I no longer use iodized salt. For both of them, I will likely finish the bottle, then take 6 months to a year off before trying them again, if I then decide to bother.
Did you find you needed more than the label suggested, or less as I discovered? Also, have you seen anything about combining MB with DMSO? Just curious.
the benefits show up at between 0.5 and 4.0 mg per kilogram of bodyweight. To match the test data at the low end, a 200lb man would need to take 45mg, or around 2.5 droppers full of 1% solution. Above 15mg per kilogram of bodyweight, and the benefits start to reverse and will damage your mitochondria.
i started by taking .5mg per kilo a couple months ago, 4 days on 3 days off. the effects have been life changing.
Ok. I have 5% solution, but that means I need to be taking about 7x the amount I've been taking, when only 2x the amount made me feel unwell. I'm pretty leery to actually try that. Maybe now that I'm more used to the low dose, I will better tolerate a high dose. I'm definitely going to look into it further.
yeah. research more. also,
never take it while on antidepressants. it can induce serotonin syndrome.
also, the reactions seem to vary widely.
