I’m planning a road trip on my car from Chicago to Aspen, Colorado and my friends started telling me not to risk because my Camry isn’t AWD and I might stack on the roads. Should I risk ?

Nah. Just wait a few months and do it when it’s warmer.

My birthday this month😇 can’t wait 😂

You can get snow tires, or chains as needed. Colorado DOT has a site for the mountain road conditions

Good ? 😁

hawt

🏔️❄️

that doesn't look like snow tire to me, or i'm mistaken?

All season

I have seen your driving, you'll do good.

Seriously though Bring a blanket, a bag of cat litter and keep water and a snack in the car

Half of Alberta has all seasons, leave room and you will do good

My grandpa had Lada 5 and I was trained how to drive on it 😁🫡

You should do a Yegor driving seminar in Colorado 😁

hab no drivers license

yegor teach pls

Driver license isn’t the problem 😁

👀 my kinda teacher

My driving teach Raymond 20yrs ago “when driving and you see a beautiful lady, keep your eyes on the road”

same here

but in military

You checking out tanks Tanel?

When I’m driving I send notes on nostr in the same time 😁

Is it truly easier with the apple head gear on?

LMFAO 🤣🤣

I heard California is beautiful this time of year.

Been in Cali. Want to explore more

Noice. Aspen CA?

Aspen, Denver, idk where else cause wife is making the list of the cities 😅

If you get the proper tires you'd be fine. I did the drive in a minivan before

I have Kinergy Hankook tires 🤷‍♂️ Stock one from Toyota.

Proper tires and chains will get you through. Otherwise you might end up crashing the car

May is the best time for this. I just saw a bunch of dumbass people slipping around on I-70 trying to push their front-wheel drives up hill in the snow.

Damn! That’s what I am worried with my Camry 😂 With my luck there are only 2 scenarios:

Car is sliding from the 🏔️ or all good and we have a good vacation 😂

Yeah, do it. You will remember it fun. (If you survive)

😂😂

IMO ROAD TRIPS ARE GREAT FOR THE MIND. ALLOWS EXTRA TIME TO GO DEEPER WITH THOUGHTS OR IDEAS. DIAL UP A FEW PODCASTS. FIND LOCAL INTERESTS ON YOUR ROUTE OR ALTERNATIVE ROUTES. STOP AND WAIT A STORM OUT IF YOU COME ACROSS ONE. DONT RUSH & INJOY!

I wouldn’t in February. I would wait until like April.

Just don't go over Independence Pass in the Camry and you'll be fine.

I drove a Dodge Omni to Arapahoe Basin in the middle of winter. I say go for it.

Yup, if you’re comfortable with getting 95% there but having to turn around

You could face hardship if there is a snowstorm. It would be ideal to have several extra days to stop at a hotel in the instance of a storm and have snow tires. I would be considerate of the person you’re trying to visit who is advising against it.

Do you have experience driving in winter weather conditions? if not you should consider the risks, to both yourself and others.

What the expierence during the winter? Driving slower ?😁

driving slower, leaving more space between you and the car ahead, braking slowly. not locking the brakes or oversteering if you begin to slide.

Meh. that stuff I knew for a long time 😉

I don't know that area, but I had RWD cars for twenty years, and drove them in snow over every mountain pass that was still open. Starting uphill from standstill is a bit more delicate, but once you are moving, you are fine. Downhill the difference is not that big anyway.

pls add massive grain of salt

send it

don't get rekt.

listen to your friends

come on the summer

dude I live out here.

seriously. wait for summer

Yeah, talked with wife and decided not too go😉 Maybe in May

I'm close to Aspen and there selling wine all summer. come taste 🍷

Nice! I will ping you closer to the date🤝

Super risky. I wouldn't do it this time of year.
