I think DJI drones should have a big red warning that they cannot be used without activating them in a closed source app that is only available for backdoored mobile operating systems.
What a freakin cool sailboat:
My proof of work for 2025:
Running for 1'251 km with 54'907 meters of climb.
Swimming for 133.5 km.
124 Paraglider flights, of which 120 were RunAndFly.
8 weeks without flying, 4 week without sport.
The last 4 weeks of the year I wasn't doing anything.
My resolution for 2026:
Recover from the dislocated ankle and broken leg, and get into physical shape again.
The full documentation of this years RedBullXAlps is out:
Another edition of the RedBull X-ALps started today.
That's the adventure race where athletes race around the apls with only walking and paragliding.

I driver that route a lot. What a pitty, to let this beautiful hotel rot. When the James Bond movie was shot, you could probably still see the Rhone glacier from there. Now you have to hike quite some distance. Holidays where you drive with a bus from mountain pass to mountain pass used to be a thing, but nowdays nobody does that any more.
It always depends when and where. After a long hike in the wilderness with nothing else to eat in sight, then of course.
Recently I found a very nice documentary about the area around Lake Lucerne:
An innovative mission on the Welsh border, funded by an anonymous private investor, has begun work to create a ‘permanent human settlement’ under the sea
In case you run yubioath-desktop on debian testing, you are probably also affected by this bug:

here is a simple workaround. Run the following on the commandline:

Did any of you hear about this?
The OS is based on Debian, and the reviews sound great.
Sometimes it can be quite a quest to find a merchant willing to accept BTC.
Ahaha, I remember the Fiat Multipla. That is the only car that is uglier than The Audi Q7.
Gentle reminder on why I prefer a phone that I can trust

But I must say, I am disapointed by the Naka guys who make the POS terminals that you see everywhere in Lugano. Two yers ago I asked them when they will support BoltCards. They promised one year. Last year it was not working, and they again promised one year. This year it's still not working, and now they didn't even promise anything. T
he coffee bycicle in front of the venue accepted NFC LN cards, and the experience was even better than with the phone.
As usual at the Lugano PlanB forum, I made lots of Lightning payments. Not a single one failed, and I made them from the same crappy self hosted node as always. Just two years ago, the chance for a $100 payment to go through was about fifty fifty, and I had to sometimes ask if they could split it in two smaller payments. Sometimes we even had to make it on-chain instead. Nowdays the experience is just great.
I just came back from Sweden, where I had to pleasure to test ride the most amazing boat I have ever seen, the Candela C8 (https://candela.com/candela-c-8/)

I drove back and forth through most of italy last week. There is one difference to Switzerland that stands out. We have a rule of thumb to preserve a two second gap to the car in front. It is mandated by law and the default setting for the adaptive cruse control. Using this setting in italy turns you into a road hazzard, as it seems to be an invitation for reckless behavior. Traffic is much more smooth in Italy if you maintain a distance of one second or sometimes even less. I would be interested to learn about a comparison of accident statistics between the two countries.

Cool! I wonder how scalable meshtastic is. I think once there are as many meshtastic nodes as cellphones, the current architecture would no longer work. But until then, it's a lot of fun.
