If you can install a router node in your 19th floor office, and connect it to your home node, that should give you some nice coverage. I have routing nodes at home, in the office and at my parents. Two have line of sight and give decent coverage in the area. The third has some mountains in between. After deploying some solar nodes on mountain tops, I should be able to connect them.

Does this case have space for a GPS? The one I use is similar but slightly different. It is also bulged at the top. The top bulge is a good place to put the GPS antenna.

Yes of cource solar would be cool. But if it's in a location where you have power, that is going to be much more reliable. Even if you have power outages. If the voltage rises quickly as it usually does after a power outage, the node boots. But if the voltage rises slowly like with a solar panel and a battery, then this board will not boot. I had plans to deploy solar powered repeaters on a couple of mountain tops, but I'm still looking for hardware that would work more reliably.

Cool stuff. Just be aware that this board does not restart when the battery goes flat, and when solar picks up the next day the voltage rises slowly. I was quite disapointed when I found out. I wanted to deploy it in winter, and it didn't work out so well. Now that the days get longer and warmer, I will give it another try.

Starship launch imminent. Will it succeed this time? I sure hope so.

I don't know that area, but I had RWD cars for twenty years, and drove them in snow over every mountain pass that was still open. Starting uphill from standstill is a bit more delicate, but once you are moving, you are fine. Downhill the difference is not that big anyway.

So what do you use instead? I tried a few things, but always came back to Ubuntu Touch.

Reminds me of that paper wallet I gave a friend for his wedding. A couple of years later he converted half of it to Fiat at an ATM. When asked where to send the change, he first scanned the private key. That stayed in the cloud storage of the ATM operator for another couple of years until it was hacked. Aaaand then it was gone.

Gifting somebody BTC will not automatically make them learn even the basics. Sad but true.

The kids had a question yesterday that I could not answer, so I asked the Alpaca AI:

$ Why are human breasts closer to the head while the breast of other mammals are closer to the butt?

The positioning of a mammal's breasts is determined by their anatomy and physiology. Human females have larger, more developed bre

asts than most other animals due to our evolutionary adaptation for childbearing. This means that human breast tissue develops earlier in the female embryo’s development, resulting in them being closer to the head compared to those of other mammals which tend to be further down towards their tail end as they are not adapted for nursing young like humans have evolved over time.

Not really convincing,,,
