If yoku received ecash minted on that mint, it would automatically be added to your mints list.
nostr:npub12rv5lskctqxxs2c8rf2zlzc7xx3qpvzs3w4etgemauy9thegr43sf485vg is there any reason why a new mint would just show up on my cashu wallet? I only had minibits as my mint and just noticed 21.mint.me show up and I have never added it...
Discussion
That makes sense, but it’s a test cashu wallet and I’ve only sent/receved using minibits and coinos. Weird right?
Never mind my previous comment. I thought I was responding to your issue with Coinos not accepting tokens from external mints. Doh! 🙃
Well that’s an issue. If I can only use coinos to accept cash from itself as a mint we either all have to agree on a mint, or we need wallets that can receive from any mint. I don’t want to end up with sats stuck in a hundred different mints. Is interoperability across wallets and mints not a thing?
It's an odd problem, and I'm not sure what Coinos is thinking. If you can only redeem Coinos ecash, it makes it pretty useless. Every other ecash wallet is able to process tokens minted by any mint. Full interoperability. It kinda makes me question why Coinos even included their ecash functionality if it's so crippled.
Agreed. I’m a big fan of Coinos, but this is an issue. Maybe Minibits will roll their app out to iOS?
Honestly, until Minibits does roll out an iOS version of their wallet, I'd probably stick with wallet.cashu.me if I were in your position. It's a solid lightning and ecash wallet with full functionality, NWC, and custom lightning address linked through npub.cash. And it's pretty stable and reliable.
I’ve never got it to work with NWC via Damus. Might have to try again.
It's not as intuitive as other wallets. Getting the lightning address linked and NWC functioning takes a little effort, but it does work. If you want to try it again I can help walk you through it.
I just NWC linked my cashu to Damus. Can you tiny zap me?
Zapped!
Received to cashu! I just tried zapping you from same.
I haven't received the zap. Somethings wrong with your NWC. Can you send me a screenshot of your settings page?
I can receive but not send.
Let me see this part of your settings

I found your problem. You're haven't linked your nostr npub with the wallet and it's using an npub generated from your wallet seed. You can see that the npub it has listed doesn't match your nostr npub.
You have go up to the top of settings and under the "Your nostr keys" section you have to select "use your nsec" and paste your nsec into the provided form. You should see your nostr npub replace the current npub linked to the wallet.
Then, toggle the "enable payment requests" on, and also turn on the "receive automatically" toggle.
Once you do all that and your correct npub is shown in the wallet settings, you'll need to update your nostr profile with the updated @npub.cash address which will also reflect your correct nostr npub.
Lemme know when you get that far.
I didn’t do that because it said nsec option not recommended.
Yeah, it's bullshit. Unless you have a nostr signing extention for your browser, you need to enter your nsec. The warning is just precautionary. It's no different from entering your nsec in your client.
I zapped 21 to you via Damus. Not seeing that sent tho via cashu.
Did you confirm that the wallet address shown in settings reflects your correct npub? And in the NWC section where it says "allowance left" is it still showing 1000 sats?
Yup. New address in cashu wallet is my correct npub. They match. Allowance left, I’ve fiddled with it. What should it be and what does it mean?
The allowance amount? It allows you to set a maximum daily zap amount to help keep you under your desired budget. 1000 is the default, and every successful zap will be deducted and displayed so you can see how much of your budget you have left for the day. It only deducts when the zap is successful so it's a good indicator of whether things are working.
Should the Damus NWC wallet relay show Damus relay address? When I had this working with coinos it showed the coinos relay address.
If you have relay.damus.io setup in your Cashu Wallet relay settings under your NWC allowance it's fine.
Kinda over this. Will pick up tomorrow. Thanks for all your time and help.
Sorry you're having all this trouble.
Not your fault. I think it’s the NWC connect step with Damus. I might spin up a new cashu wallet and try clean now I know the settings.
Maybe 2nd time is the charm!
Well I just received to my new cashu via a zap and tried zapping you 7 sats. My cashu wallet balance never went down. ☹️
Bummer. If it doesn't show the deduction on your end, the zap didn't go through. I don't understand what the problem is. You're able to use NWC with Coinos, and it's a standard format so there's no good reason why NWC from Cashu won't work. It's frustrating, I know. I think you should contact calle from Cashu and see what he has to say. He's very helpful and responsive. In the meantime, you should switch back to Coinos and maintain the Cashu Wallet for ecash.
Agreed, will do. I really appreciate your help with all of this, I learned a lot about cashu wallet in the process. 🙏🏻
I'm sorry I wasn't able to get you over the finish line. I'm disappointed. Please keep me updated. I'm very curious to hear what the issue was so I'll know better for next time.
I would recommend going to npub.cash and registering a custom LN address linked to your npub. You could do bfgreen@npub.cash or something similar. The custom name will cost you 5000 sats one-time fee. But I think it's worth it because
I’ll try
Another wallet you can look into is eNuts. I believe an iOS version of that is available.
Only via LN, you can swap funds from one mint to another.
Yes, that is odd. If you've never added that mint, or redeemed ecash from that mint, I'm not sure why it's appearing in your mint list. I wonder if they have some sort of deal with Cashu to automatically include it in Cashu wallets?
Nope, there are no defaults....... hmmm
That's indeed odd. As nostr:npub1vkgj57k30l2u7wave6t4nua75wjylx3nju6qu4vu7pneghwx8zlsf7q4uq said, it should only happen if you manually add the mint or receive ecash from it. Maybe someone sent you ecash via a payment request and you received it?
