My theory on MSTR is simple.

I want to own the company with the most bitcoin.

Why not just own bitcoin?

We own that too.

NAH YOU ONLY TRULY OWN ONE OF THEM (IF YOU SELF CUSTODY)

That's what I mean 😏

Why not bitcoin?

Also what about CEP?

hmmm, leverage a cashflowing company that HODLs and own a piece of that stock.

It could work. 🤙

I want to own the company that can prove to me they have the most bitcoin.

If the company that owns the most bitcoin ends up becoming a different company, your theory changes correct?

Yep

What if its someone like Coinbase in the future?

Cry and call it a good run?

Becoming the company with the biggest balance sheet is just phase 1

Phase 2 will arguably be more exciting

People unironically be like “so what happens when they can’t borrow fiat anymore to buy bitcoin, huh? What will they do then?”

Answer: with over 1M BTC they can do anything they want.

MSTR is becoming a shadow central bank. Few

Few indeed

Yessir

What's the end state?

Like if bitcoin skyrockets and eventually dollars won't be able to buy it.

Can MSTR perpetually raise money and buy?

If they ever can't, what happens? Cash out your shares into bitcoin?

$MSTR may become a money during the transition and perhaps for a while afterwards. People will trade any equity they have for one of the MSTR stock products.

If I have apple and we've moved to CBDCs, maybe I trade a boatload of apple stock for some type of MSTR product. Strategy becomes a shadow bank that trades in securities rather than cash.

How do you define "own"?

My trust in MSTR is equal to my trust in ETF’s but the upside is higher. For regulated retirement portfolios MSTR makes a lot of sense. For people who want to play fiat games with Bitcoin like returns, MSTR makes sense. I have some, but ultimately, I’m a Bitcoiner. Since this cycle is about treasury companies, I expect that MSTR will lead to the upside, mark the top and then fall further. I may sell mine and roll it into Bitcoin when things get frothy and just take the tax hit.

Sounds gay, just own Bitcoin

Are dime-a-dozen treasury companies the alt coins of this cycle? I’m sticking with Bitcoin for savings and MSTR for investing.

ETFs and MSTR are great vehicles to move people toward self-sovereignty, especially if you have funds tied up by IRAs and such. You probably didn't start your journey with a Coldcard and so let's not look down on others who are just discovering perfect money.

I've been saying this for several years. I have funds locked up in Vanguard, where I can't even purchase metaplanet. It's all MSTR and CEP (21). I have to let it ride for at least 3 more years. I'm grateful MSTR is there doing its thing.

Appreciate the zap! Doing some calculations, and I think I'm going to take the 10% penalty (on earnings) on an early withdrawal. If Saylor is right and btc is 30% year-over-year even for a few more, I'll be able to pay the IRS the penalty ten times over. The most aggressive allocation in my portfolio is topping out at 12%. Except for MSTR and IBIT. I went light on CEP until that ticker changes!

I think that's a pretty good mix. I look at diversification this way: AI, New Financial, and Bitcoin.

I could MSTR as AI and New Financial, CEP as New Financial, and of course my Bitcoin as Bitcoin (duh).

I couldn't buy IBit in Vanguard, so the retirement portfolio is only split between the two, which will do for now.

not stupid

Is it better to own the biggest hedge fund in the world, or the best performing hedge fund in the world?

AKA, she says that the size doesn't matter.
