I make a lot of effort to simplify and clarify my writing, both here and on my nostr:npub1l5sga6xg72phsz5422ykujprejwud075ggrr3z2hwyrfgr7eylqstegx9z dev npub, but I still regularly get complaints that it's often incomprehensible.

I think it's holding back my ability to gain follows because everyone is like

Break it down into simple concepts, don’t push too much info at the same time, use high school vocabulary for important points, rinse and repeat

I thought that was what I was doing. 😭

Then you need to switch to elementary school vocabulary!

Vocabulary? Please ELI5 🀣

I talked like this in elementary school.

I'm afraid there's no hope for you 🀣

simple like.. a vlog dance?

I try to write simply and clearly but people still complain they can't understand me.

I like your style of writing and find it to be distinctly you. But yes, often times you use many words when few word do trick.

Yeah.

I'm unusually good at very pithy notes, as well, tho. Or memes.

Feel like it's different styles of writing. I should maybe move longer texts to longform. But then nobody sees them. πŸ˜‚

Even people who go to longform apps don't see my stuff, as I'm not in the landing page feeds.

Well, nostr:npub1636uujeewag8zv8593lcvdrwlymgqre6uax4anuq3y5qehqey05sl8qpl4 is changing that, thankfully.

This long form thing... Why do we need special clients or whatever to do it? Am I not seeing people's long form notes in amethyst? I've been told I should "do long form" because occasionally I write a couple paragraphs' worth of words, but I'm not really sure what they mean by that.

Amethyst and Jumble and a few others put the longform directly into the social feeds, so people do actually see them.

You can't write them on there, tho. Need other editors for it.

You have over 6000 followers on this account already.

What are you even talking about?

If you want more followers you have to interact more with people that's it, commenting on other people's notes so that accounts that don't follow you already can see you exist.

Get stuffed.

Make a second npub called Laeserin-Lite that's just a bot that takes your main npub posts and runs it through a "simplify this" LLM prompt

I've been following both of your npubs for maybe a year, and never thought your writing was incomprehensible. I usually don't respond because I'm not a dev, but I see it.

Why do you want more followers? I don't think any good will come from lowing yourself closer to the average level. Go in the opposite direction - whatever is interesting to you, go full nerd on it ("nerd" is good in my mind) without thinking about other's approval.

I use this npub to promote GitCitadel and PurpleKonnektiv projects. If I have more followers, more people will find out about those projects. Like, when the next meetup is or if there's a new Alexandria release.

I also use it to promote npubs that I think are interesting, but that don't get a lot of attention, because they aren't about Bitcoin or whatnot.

Ah that makes sense. I wasn't thinking like a dev.

Well, I also post Christian-y stuff with this one. The Word will out! πŸ˜‚

Hey, don't feel like you have to. I think Christians bully each other (without realizing it) into saying Christian-y stuff. IMO this is just Paul's Christianity and I question the merit of letting Paul define our how we do Christianity. I post Christian-y stuff half in an attempt to provoke Christians, which will hopefully get them thinking. They don't like it.... But if a thing is true, it will be still be there after you take a detour. And if not... Then the provocation improved their life. I'm not concerned at all with spreading the word - its already everywhere, in more ways than one.

Err, but don't read this as disparaging spreading the word. Just thoughts.

Oh, I like posting Christian-y stuff. Especially anything tied to the local holidays and traditions.

I'm not a theologian, but I'm a woman, so nobody expects me to be. Which is a relief. πŸ˜‚

I got asked to join the church choir, tonight, which I'm stoked about. They sing more complex pieces, like the Mass from Schubert, and lots of Latin. 🀩

Oh that's awesome! But I didn't know it was an invitation kind of thing. Do you have to already be good at singing, or do they train you?

It's not the normal choir, it's the high holiday one. Invitation-only, yeah.

You need a strong voice and know how to read music, but mostly you have to be willing to practice for hours every week.

The other devs on the team don't have time to get their follow lists up, so I work this one hard and boost their stuff.

I find it easy to understand you. I am accustomed to speaking with others whose second language is English. In general, Germans have excellent English, yourself included. I agree that dumb-downed language will appeal to more in the general population, but at Nostr there is a higher level of discourse.

You're talking about yourself, your family and your software projects in a way that is uniquely you. That's what makes it interesting in my opinion. A Kardashian style account on X that appeals to the lowest common denominator will get more followers. But is that what you want?

I don't know. It'd have to be AI-generated, tho, as I'll wouldn't be able to play dumb indefinitely.

"tho, as I'll wouldn't" watt does thIZ mean Stella?

πŸ˜†

Wut U dinK it mean?

you R human*/*ya _gut*****πŸ˜‰

btw/your image on Citadel Dispatch, you probably know already, ya? but, i wantED to note IT{Alex & Matt]

Being formally educated in three European languages is perhaps one reason, why my vocabulary is so large. Variants of some of the words are more common in the other languages.

Its high end thinking, yer not writing for the Bluey crowd

I also am trying to give y'all The Real Stellaβ„’, and occasionally remain unfiltered. My internal dialog is one endless run-on sentence.

The short, condensed posts are more.... manufactured.

When I have my husband read my longform posts, he always finds one or more insanely long sentences that need to be split up to make them comprehensible to most people. I think I could almost write an entire theological treatise in one sentence. :)

Lean into it

Become incomprehensibe 😎

The typo makes it 🀌

Yes, that is true, especially for me πŸ˜‚

But it's also true that quality beats quantity.

I was gonna meme, but On Writing Well by William Zinsser is a good resource.
