I know enough that you have to have notice before you can randomly try to rip people off. If I’m ever given a notice about your inability to use my stuff I’ll just block you from accessing my website. Nobody is entitled to use any website not made by some state or federal agency.

“Places of public accommodation”

Brah im not reading this shit. Point to some exact wording where everything that’s been claimed is true or I’m done with this nonsense.

If you can't discern information from searching the internet I don't know how to help you

I know you thing you're making a point, but you're really not.

I’m not making a point aside from sourcing the claim that ada has been found in some instances to apply to the web

You can’t talk facts to someone who refuses to listen. It’s not worth the effort.

That’s rude and dismissive towards someone genuinely asking for sources

Brah.. that’s target and Netflix.

🫸🥅

I’m only sourcing the claim:

“Web and mobile app accessibility lawsuits are most definitely a thing and are at an all time high”

“At an all time high” but I personally prefer reading the cases and settlements with a familiar party to learn about this genre of suit than to trust a journalists statistics.

https://dailygazette.com/2022/07/06/down-to-business-number-of-website-accessibility-lawsuits-continues-to-climb/

there is also a lot of minutia that it’s kinda all the same 5-7 defendants for the most part and 3-5 law firms chasing after this, but that doesn’t refute the statement.

For what type of business with what duties to whom?

And Craig Wright is suing open source developers. Ambulance chasers chase ambulances. So what?

I’m not refuting the statement:

Ambulance chasers chase ambulances

I’m refuting the statement:

Ambulance chaser, prove to me this exists

Guy, sincerely: what is with you lately? You’ve become Mister Devil’s Advocate for no apparent reason. Bored?

Once again, #[7] I’m not advocating for these laws and regulations… I’m simply providing sources here so those who agree with us that ada lawsuits are overly litigious money chasing schemes, can dispute it instead of act like it doesn’t exist. And yes they shake down small business and the trend points to them coming closer and closer to shaking down small web.

And again, so what? Builders should stop building? Tuck tail and return back to the safety of multi-billion dollar companies that can withstand any lawsuit?

What are *you* here for?

No. In the micro sense, im in this thread because I saw this interaction and responded.

In the grand sense I’m here because I care a great deal about civil liberties and believe decentralized media can secure that.

what are you here for?

No one once said they agreed with the laws. Sounds like you guys want a safe space where no one points out when you're wrong

Right. I really despise FOSTA/SESTA but I shut down a whole section of my forum site that discussed experiences with hiring escorts when it passed because with backpage.com being taken down and the Feds raiding and arresting the folks from RentBoy.com, it wasn’t something that me, a small webmaster, could ignore.

I don’t have the patience to explain these things to people who refuse to listen to those of us who’ve been there, done that and survived.

luckily, participating in conversations on nostr, doesn’t boost the o.p’s trending status… you might have to change your thinking that anyone adding a comment is helping and in alliance with.

Maybe certain nostr products do choose to stand in defiance, that might even make me choose them over those that do comply or avoid… but this is something done with intention, not ignorance of.

In the immortal words of Bitcoin Twitter, cry harder.

you believe twitter is immortal? What are you doing here?

Anything I please.

And what exactly is that?

Anything I please.

The freedom to type “Anything I please”

Now you’re catching on.

Now you’re catching on

iOS can read text in images so this is really a non issue.

Clowns making claims they are not qualified to make and then putting the burden of proof on you… 😂

Buzz off.

I agree with #[5] … existing clients should be as accessible as possible. It’s not fair to tell a person with a disability that they can’t use a leading app just because the developer didn’t want to make it accessible.

It’s like saying to people in a wheelchair “no you can’t use public transit because our buses are not accessible… so go build your own transit system”.

Damus has some (very basic) accessibility features such as an option to disable animations, and the ability for Damus to respect font size as set up in iOS as opposed to use a randomly small text size as in the earlier version. That doesn’t hinder the experience for anyone.

cc: #[9] #[10]

I’m not arguing against making things accessible. And I’m not even against being wrong on this issue. What I dislike is people drawing conclusions on some thing they didn’t really research and then throw links at me hoping I’m going to read the thing that satisfies their claims.

Most of the time the content linked doesn’t even address their claims and it’s a waste of time. Not my fault they can’t read or think beyond a headline…
