id love for someone to explain to me why the federal government needs a sub to politico. lets disregard the amount, someone at the government, or someone defending the expense, explain the utility and how its used in their job. then we can determine how much it's worth and whether $8 million is excessive. But until then, i just call it flat out corruption because no one can tell me why.

So essentially he bitching about Tesla not funding him? Make it make sense. 🤦

🤣🤣🤣yes

Tesla has benefited from many unprofitable years.

Companies can take advantage of past-year losses without limit.

All companies would write off years off losing billions of dollars. The tax structure is set up in a way to not inhibit growth. They have created tons of jobs, all of them pay taxes. Taxes on building materials, taxes every other thing that they moved through the economy.

Once their tax breaks from unprofitable years are over they will pay massive amouts of taxes like every other company in the US. When you include state corporate taxes, the combined average U.S. corporate tax rate is around 25.8% or 2.8% higher than the global average.

Reminds me of someone saying ā€œI only stole one bottle of wine from youā€, that guy over there gets free wine all the time because he’s your friend.

Taxation is theft. Good on Tesla for protecting their wealth from being redistributed to guys like this.

The mindset of the person writing that doesn’t get why people as so fed up and angry. It’s not like $8m wasted is an isolated thing. It’s everywhere. It’s death by a thousand cuts. And some of those cuts are billions in waste. They all add up. They funnel back to the same organizations. They are meant to hide under titles like green energy or affordable care but are waste and grift. Personally, I see a crescendo coming… we have been told that defense and Medicare and Medicaid and social security are off limits for cutting… I think they’re building up to the real money.

I wouldn’t even respond to that person… but that’s me.

You’re assuming that taxes are a net good for society. I reject that foundation in your argument.

As evidenced by DOGE’s findings, the government is terrible with capital allocation, and rampant with fraud and waste. We should focus on that problem, before we have any discussion about whether someone ā€œpays their fair share.ā€

Quoted from @DefiyantlyFree: "Tesla paid no income tax because there are (a) accelerated depreciation rules for companies that make massive investments in assets (b) tax breaks related to executive stock options and (c) tax credits for EVs which were championed by [the Democrat] party.

Tesla employs 125,000 people. If you take 70,000 as an average salary for said employees that’s a payroll of 8.8 billion dollars.

So Telsa paid around 673 million on their behalf into social security and Medicare.

Oh and Musk personally paid 11 billion dollars in taxes last year.

Facts without proper context are propaganda."

Tesla is investing billions around to world for EV charging, infrastructure, battery deployment, driving down unit costs, and lithium refining. Plowing profits back into the company (rather than giving back to shareholders or compensation for C-level) is a positive thing. I'd rather have Elon deciding where to invest the profits from his companies than the Govt.

People who manage large amounts of stolen taxpayer dollars are often under the delusion that they are the same as people who earn large amounts of money by producing things.

Ask him he’d be this chill when he finds out one of his employee is racking up 3,000 pointless little subscriptions on the company card, ignoring them for years, and when he finally notices, does a few shuffling magic tricks file it under ā€˜operating costs’ and moves on.

Kind of fair point tho..

these are rookie numbers - the pentagon is missing TRILLIONS

yes, but he's a few orders of magnitude off. USAID got $40 billion a year

true

I guess the best counterargument is that even a couple millions is enough to pay an army of "journalists" which can do a LOT of damage šŸ¤”

waste/corruption is bad and if you can effectively eliminate it that's good

Just ask if they’re willing to change their mind in light of new information.

this will be my next reply

The real problem is that the government has any funding at all.

The term Money Laundering should not exist in anyone's vernacular. Refer to the give a shit matrix for more info.

Thanks

Oh shit you manage 30 bitcoins?

dude wastes that money on NOT bitcoin
