Is #nostr still too hard?
Discussion
Nostr isn't hard anymore. I nevey saw it as hard myself but, I understand that the hardest thing to beat are eliminating the short attention span of people and embed a will to learn new things in human brains again.
But reality is, that human behavior is often driven by the principle of least effort.
gigi, i literally beat the whole game in days, the first world in minutes.
nostr is hard as a non dev, but are you talking to the devs only? i have no idea, bc nostr is hard af.
Only in discoverability, sometimes in consistency, and I can see how people can have problem onboaring desktop+app client when they are used to normal login or just to scan QR.
I think people on the right side of the bell cure have difficulty imagining what it's like to be on the left side
Depends on your goal. The difficulty of Nostr acts as a filter. The median user is a higher-quality participant than other social media.
Choose your hard..
I remember Lightning invoices and having up host your own pfp…
It was alot harder 3 years ago 💀
It's getting esier for sure but people will always find an excuse to not use something new or postpone any change or slight effort. My self included on some topics, but when I heard people still complaining that I "make my life harder fpr nothing" by refusing to use Whatsapp/Facebook/Insta/X... it's just getting me mad. Would you tell the same to a vegan? To a digital nomad? To parents doing home school?
Fight for what you think is right, accept the others for their choices as much as your choices.
I don’t think so. I rather believe that for many, the breaking point hasn't been reached yet. I would like to add that I've recently noticed a significantly growing interest, at least among my acquaintances.
Can you explain the growing interest?
I showed and explained Nostr to some people quite a while ago and set up an npub - but beyond one or two posts, nobody really showed any engagement, and the accounts remained inactive.
But in the last few weeks, several of these people have independently contacted me and asked me to explain 'Nostr' to them again, without me mentioning Nostr of my own accord.
Is Nostr too hard?
Personally, I don't think so. When I introduce people to Nostr, I always say: It's fundamentally different from other social media because it mirrors real life more authentically. You're truly in the driver's seat.
And here's the fascinating part: this is precisely the same challenge most people face in their everyday lives - recognizing that they actually have the power to take control. This is the hurdle per se.
Anyone for whom this hurdle is already too high, or too inconvenient, will probably not be able to contribute much to Nostr or derive much benefit from it.
Or simply doesn't need social media in their life, which is also okay.
I have just as many friends who don't use social media at all and are by no means stupid or ignorant.
Thank you 🧡
