Iโd love for them to self reflect n see what it is that they think they feel when they โlikeโ someoneโs note.. what a like means to them doesnโt mean the same for the receiver most of the time, so either way thereโs a disconnect there. Iโd love for them to interact in the comments of a note more than throwing them a like, itโll be more rewarding for both users at the end of the day.

Yes, I agree if that is the outcome that occurs. I think testing it and seeing what happens will be great. I think we would all want more comments and engagements vs likes. Iโm not sure that would be the outcome. Letโs see!

But from who? I think that will be the kicker. Will the lurker who only scrolls and likes be willing to jump into the conversation? This will be the test. I canโt stop commenting ๐คฃ so Iโm not a good test subject.
Engaging in response takes effort and time, the latter of which is expending value of the sender despite no sats being sent.
I like the positive reactions as a way to skim a thread or feed and note what I appreciate without leaving the app.
Zapping is a very lengthy process for me on mobile, and usually takes over half a minute to accomplish (I'm using Amethyst, pay with Breez, and on a 6 year old phone cause I'm not rich)
On the receiving end, I don't get much engagement. I rarely post memes because the time to prepare and post to me is better spent coding. But I'm not a Nostr dev funded by Jack or the community. I'm just working on my own open source projects for Bitcoin that have existed longer than Nostr. Check it out at nodeyez.com . So I'm happy to see the little engagement I do get whether it's a reaction, a zap or a comment.
Exactly! I also think part of the pushback is that people may perceive โonly zapsโ as begging for money especially when a user is not an active participant or developer on nostr. If youโre not making tangible contributions to the community, then โonly zapsโ can feel like virtual panhandling. However, people have the right to engage or not engage, so it shouldnโt be a big deal or create such strong reactions from people.
โฟegging for zaps? I am weaning myself off the non value content I produce. I would rather receive nothing rather than a fake smile saying i saw that. If I canโt rouse 1 sat from you the value is 0.
