All of them. 🤪

I managed to convince a few to move to Signal

Is there a difference really?

Well, nostr is looking to implement signal protocol. You tell me.

🤷‍♂️

To me they are both encrypted messages hosted on a server somewhere.

Though, isn’t that everything. 😅

I like the idea of encrypted nostr events on a private relay. if the relay is shut down , we can pack and move to a new one.

I don’t know what telegram used for encryption but signal uses double ratchet which sounds legit

https://signal.org/docs/specifications/doubleratchet/

Except that signal is very likely going to be compromised. And it's still not easy enough to sign up without using a phone.

No we’re implementing MLS which is a more scalable group protocol that works better in a distributed network.

Oh ok. How does it compare to double ratchet?

This stuff is over my head.

And Bitcoin

🤣

Yeah I don’t get it ..Why? I left that group a long time ago

Sad 😔

I was unsuccessful in trying to convince anyone to leave telegram yesterday

I never understood the use of telegram for teams, there is no way to track stuff, if there are a bunch of people its just a flow of gobbly gook.. Great for one on one chat, but large groups it sort of blows.

Because nostr has terrible groups and TG, for all its foibles, just works better for group chats and sharing stuff directly.

Large groups are still abysmal on simplex. Matrix is fine but requires art least one person to know how to securely run a server.

XMPP is another viable option, but, it also requires more effort to be a good option other than "install an app and use it."

> Large groups are still abysmal on simplex.

Getting fixed this year.

I hope so, but... I'm also salty at the influx of VC money into simplex as that does not ever end well.

xmpp has a long time test and is very lightweight to run. Simplex still too buggy yet.

Now, they gon’ switch to 'Element'…

Apparently  is working to improve iMessage 💬 and it will be better than Signal 🤔

“Quantum secure” sounds like marketing lingo for normies 🤣

it is not

It does though!

absolutely 😂

They are good with marketing. And it sells

Where is the back door my friend ??? 👀

It is something that 99% of normal users are willing not to find out and only trust.

Apparently everything else is more important than implementing a private messaging client over Nostr.
