Hearing "you were right about Bitcoin" from friends hits differently. It’s not an admission—it’s a defeatist shrug.

It means, "You were right, but it’s too late now. I missed it." That attitude is the hardest to hear because it’s not true.

A lot of people think Bitcoin is too good to be true. And when you describe it without thinking, yeah—it does sound that way. A future of sound money, fairness, and freedom? It’s hard to imagine because we’ve been trained to expect disappointment, not hope.

People have been conditioned to be nihilistic about the future. So when Bitcoin offers a way out, it’s easier to dismiss it as "too late" or "not real" than to accept it’s already here.

They think it’s over. They don’t see that it’s barely begun.

You weren’t right then. You’re right now. And you’ll keep being right. It’s not about the past—it’s about waking up to the future.

“Thank you. I am right. My message hasn’t changed. I’m still stacking.”

AM is the key

Truly early

absolutely

Waiting for anyone to notice you're pissing in the wind.

I need more pictures like this. I think it's a schtick I'm going to start

Eventually they will change from :

“It’s a risky ponzi bubble that will be shut down by the government”

to

“You were right about bitcoin but it’s too late for me”

to

“Can you sell me some bitcoin ?”

pls sir, you have so much can you just give me some

Sure, if you add value to the world 😉

"you were right but i still can't (or won't)" - sounds like drawing a line / separation to me.

it's not just BTC either, this is a very common pattern as a response to half-admitting to not getting it or being wrong, etc. i think it's most likely a "get me da fuq outta here" type thing but i don't read minds.

agree

Weak velocity

IT WAS COLD

I try to tell them we're just getting started. No dice.

Yes fren….

So true and sad

Did you say you wouldn’t bother starting to save for a pension because you didn’t have $500k on day one? In just the same way, start saving a bit in Bitcoin every month, it won’t change things over night, but eventually, it probably will. Then, take control of your pension and ape in. 🫡🙌

Agreed... it's so weird. I've been meeting with a group of normies regularly for coffee/beers over the past several years. Have attempted to get them involved and in 2021 we all made predictions and I said btc would hit $100K in 2022. I was wrong., but I also shared that DCA was their friend, technology adoption curve shows we're still early, etc.

At our last meetup, my buddy who's a big Dave Ramsey guy, brings up inflation and how families are struggling to keep up. At this point, I just keep quiet... can only bring a horse to water so many times... and don't want to beat a dead horse.

So few realize that the train is still in the station. In this group of seven, I'm the only one into btc., and all the talking points have just failed to stick. Dave Ramsey guy always says "stick with what you know".

Sadly, there are times I feel like flipping them the HFSP bit.

I also wonder if there will come a time that relations will strain as they are so blue pilled and unwilling to take a drink from the btc watering hole. Time will tell.

I think at a certain point you got to recognize it there. not listening to you and continuing to hammer the point home makes them more staunch in their opinion against it.

they know you're a bitcoiner and when they're ready to learn, they'll come to you.

Agreed, similarly I have a friend who would explain all these things and at the time I wasn’t ready to understand, didn’t really know how to communicate it was so foreign to me. That friend is now a mentor who I check in with annually, pretty awesome to be on the same page. I’m now that friend that speaks about money printers, etc and hopefully in due time I’ll be contacted by those I’ve bewildered asking for more information being their trusted source amongst the noise.

I appreciate that... hope that it works out that way.

Just did an in person meetup with a friend and his friend and talked bitcoin for 4 hrs. It really feeds the soul when you meet others IRL that are out of the matrix

That's awesome... very cool. I've had so few really good IRL btc discussions over the years. Back in the previous cycle, I used to host "blockchain" meetups, thinking that throwing the net wider would draw in more people. It mostly attracted people that had no clue why a centralized blockchain was a waste of time and only wanted to discuss whether to invest in XRP or Ethereum. ICO's were all the craze and it was all a shitshow. That more than anything pushed me towards bitcoin. To Ben's original point, even back then people felt like they'd missed the btc boat.

It seems like more and more people are seeing the matrix of lies that permeates our society. Which makes freedom of speech on nostr even more important.

Yeah I may have purple pulled them today, it’s an easy sell to a bitcoiner

The best response is to explain to them why you're still driving a beat up Toyota.

I drive an old truck

Not only to avoid trackers

But stack more sats too

#haiku

Garth! that was a haiku

All my friends drive beat up old Toyota's too. Tacoma's last forever

They're almost the same as a Hilux.

The damn things are near unbreakable.

aren't those just the four inversion of Toyota?

Poor version? I don't think you can buy a Tacoma here.

The Hilux is considered the cheap version of the LandCruiser here.

I meant to say foreign, but was using speech to text.

I think Land cruiser is a Toyota brand maybe

Yeah - that's what I meant by them being basically the same car. I've never seen a Tacoma though so couldn't say that they're the same.

Cruisers are Toyota's. Basically the same engine but they're in a bigger chassis & look cool.

Happy New Year, Ben. Still in London 🇬🇧

Yeah this kills me too. There won’t be another Bitcoin. There are people not even born yet that will be stacking sats 20 years from now because it’s still the best money. So how can you be late if you’re in the workforce now? Stop thinking like you’re late and be grateful it exists

culturally established identity + long-time reinforced narratives = perpetual (and fearful) resistance to making the unknown known, regardless of real-world evidence

It IS too late.

I say to myself.

HOWEVER... better 'too late' than 'even later'

Amen

Many people will admit you were right. Very few will admit you are right.

well said

Damn, you are so right

I've always wanted to hear that

Most get hung up on the medium of exchange piece. Tough hurdle for the average person.

Beautifully written. 💜

I’m feeling this message …

Walking into a brighter future and knowing bitcoin has my back every single day 😎

you're winning so hard rn 💪

I think the best way to convince these people is to tell them that capital never disappeared when it trickled up.

In other words, that capital will go to Bitcoin and you can meet it there somehow and somewhen if you keep being part of the game (buying Bitcoin).

In more simpler and brute terms, even if you were "stolen" you can still get part of that capital back because that capital never actually disappeared.

I fly long haul cargo mostly to Asia and I tell every copilot about bitcoin. Some have bought bitcoin, some have not, but there have been a few that said I was right and pulled the trigger lately. One just messaged me and said he set up a Swan IRA. I still serve in the Air National Guard and there isn’t anything more motivating than the hope that bitcoin and a Bitcoin standard can make war unaffordable. 9/11 was a pivotal moment for me that lead me to join the military. Bitcoin has changed my view on the military and that’s why I love nostr:npub1qktts9naunvjdwsktq5xjdhwh539xt4x0mqj4yxq0q9dvm03ljvs6sms0r and their mission to educate vets.

damn. thanks for sharing

It's got to feel cool when someone really starts buying like that. I've only had a couple people get truly convinced to get into Bitcoin and I cherish those relationships even more now

“Conditioned to be nihilistic” - ain’t that the truth…stay humble. Stack sats. Spread love.

💯

It’s never to late

This one allways sums it up for me🤷‍♂️😂

They've only 'missed' every opportunity before now.

No need to miss the rest of them.

💯

Bitcoin is healthy money. It's never too late to adopt healthy money, just like it's never too late to adopt healthy food.

or healthy discourse 💜
