i ignore most because most discourse isn't really relevant in "real" life.

that is very insightful take. With my search to understand emotions and behaviours the more I learn of my own biases and others. Which is in a way a precious gift with a heavy weight of responsibility. πŸ™β˜ΊοΈ

most discourse is so focused on triggering and evoking reactions, so i try to remain distant or even dismissive at times.

i have very real people to serve, so i can't give that too much bandwidth

very well said. You only have a 'finite' energy. You invest it to whoever and whatever matters to you. At the end of the day, it is your life. Those who know how to invest their energy properly are those who are not run down and built for resilience. πŸ‘Œ

the rabbit hole is fun as long as it doesn't make you become reactive or pull you away from those who love you.

if it is entertainment and you understand that it is purely for 'fun' then that is good. Our brain needs to shut off and have fun from time to time. But with moderation. What we exposed ourselves - fun or not are adding to our brain's training and rewiring. Hence, I am overly protective of what I exposed myself. ☺️
