Thinking about creating a mirroring Tumblr relay.

A few problems:

1. Mirroring media (pretty sure nostr:npub1jjn20zj6awa6gz73423zxjqszvkzmqqyhwghwctvgy7ncrwlxg8qdavknm blossom server wouldn't like it). Hot linking functionality is highly dependent on clients - native COULD work, web ones? No dice.

2. You need a domain, and that means registering it, and that means KYC :/

Any smart solutions for the first, second, or both? #asknostr

rent a subdomain ^.^

I think there are even places where you can buy (sub)domains with crypto. But not sure about cost/trust issues in the long run.

I could make a way without own relay, just publishing on others... Only downside is not having it nicely grouped like momostr does.

do you still use tumblr actively~?

No, used before big purge in the old days. I have it installed on mobile though and browse from time to time. I have tried bdsmrl, but wasn't able to pick my sphere of interest easily again. I guess discoverability problem isn't exclusive to Nostr 😅

oh i remember that

i stayed for awhile after that :3

And where are you getting your daily fix now? If you say 'at home,' I will envy you so hard 😃

😹😹😹😹😹

mostly reading smut now lol

Blossom media is meant to be mirrored and replicated across multiple servers.

Nostr is free and decentralized at heart.

Still, mirroring Tumblr blogs could easily incur heavy costs, without clear benefit (for network I mean). I'll stay on the caution side. Maybe preserving only the last few months and dropping old blossoms? But that would drop them only from a single server, since deletions are not propagated 🤔

NGL I am half into replacing images with AI-described placeholders 😅
