Leg cramps as your falling asleep suck.

That is all.

Did you drink enough water, today?

Yes. More than enough.

Drinking too much water, especially water without minerals can cause all kinds of problems. I like RO water, but I've been adding salt/minerals to my water to help.

In the Grand Canyon, they have to helicopter out more people because they drank too much water and didn't replace their electrolytes than they do for those not drinking enough water.

Hydrate

Yes. I am hydrated. I'd die if I wasn't drinking water at work. Seriously.

I used to get them while laying in bed. If you can stand up immediately and put pressure on the heel of that leg, it'll subside quickly. I've always attributed it to dehydration. 🤷‍♂️

I'm very rarely dehydrated. And yes, standing can help, but... Getting out of bed at the time would have been... Difficult.

lack of salt and dehydration are definitely factors. i am pretty sure there is some form of chronic nerve damage caused by seed oils and other things like artificial sweeteners that contribute. i don't get them very often since having like 2-3tsp of sea salt with 3L of yoghurt/milk per day (in 3 meals of course) but even then, after a few beers/wines the next day i sometimes get one. so that points at the dehydration route, and also to some extent the salts, but also nerve damage because alcohol depletes B1 and this causes signalling problems with other muscle systems. once it starts to affect your eyes you know it. i get double vision fairly often and it also seems to be affected by dehydration, salts and poor nutrition.

Pickle juice and mustard!!!!

Already had pickle juice. Mustard is awful and there is none nor will there ever be any in my home.

Turmeric is a phytoestrogen

Yes, and?

It gives dudes massive tits, and ugly ones

Hmmm... Mehbe you're on to something.

Turmeric is what makea mustard yellow

Oh. I don't eat mustard. But I do think some pickling mixed have turmeric.

True, its better than sodium benzoate, and generally pickle juice has less turmeric concentration than mustard.

Respectable

Honey has potassium, which counters cramps. Easier to stomach than pickle juice.

I probably drank 1/2 cup of pickle juice straight from the jar earlier when I felt the twinges start a couple of hours ago... I love pickle juice.

I might take some honey now. Thank you.

I love pickles, not the bread n’ butter ones, only the savory kind. But, I can’t drink pickle juice. Bananas ate potassium rich, but I am sure you know that already.

I do. But... Yes, we have no bandanas!

I think you might be in the right age range to get that reference...

I have heard it, but don’t know the source for the reference. And I thought it was bananas!

The original song is much older than Spike Jones, but this is my favorite version.

This is a sign of mineral deficiency. Try this:

1. Take 500mg magnesium glycinate every day.

2. Rub magnesium chloride on your feet before bed.

3. Add ionic minerals to your water.

It sure looks like I have to get some magnesium.

I take it every day and haven't had any night cramps in years.

Thank you. That's very reassuring!

I agree. Minerals. My wife takes magnesium when this happens and it helps.

What he said 👆🏼.

Trace minerals are a game changer.

My mom had the same issue; this permanently resolved it. She thought it was old age.

I'll save you some time. Here's what I use after years of evaluating different products.

Mag glycinate:

Mag chloride spray:

Ioic minerals (for your water):

Thanks.

Ordered the pills and the minerals.

I drink a lot of water at work, where they have some kind of filtered water dispenser. I have to find out if it's an RO system, because if it is, that might explain a few other things...

Yup. Empty water forces your body to use it's mineral reserves. Coffee, alcohol, and processed food, too.

No coffee, haven't had a drink for over a week, and try not to have too many processed foods...

Then it must be:

A. Filtered water stealing your minerals.

B. Most of our food supply has lost most of it's mineral content over the decades due to monocropping and soil debasement.

You're using your reserves and they aren't being replenished through the ordinary means.

I recommend everyone take minerals because of this problem.

What product or method do you recommend? My wife likes the Trace Minerals concentrace drops.

Suggest she takes thekm every day regardless. Mineral stores take awhile to build up but are easily depleted by fiat life.

Curl your hamstring IN not out

Wasn't hammies this time. Quads and then, super-weirdly, the heads of the muscles under my knee caps. I don't think I've ever had that happen before. Really, really odd and painful feeling.

Yeah what's weird is like when I get a charlie horse or when I start to get one I curl my leg in and it stretches it out and it goes away and.

So, I managed to get out of bed without triggering another round of cramps, got to my honey, and took about a teaspoon full of honey. I can't say that it was the exact reason, or if the cramps have passed on their own, but I'm feeling better now are well try to sleep, again.

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone!

Following up on this:

I think I was lacking salt. All my major meals the last 4-5 days have been cooked by other people. My father was visiting, and we had dinner with my sister and BIL. My BIL is sodium sensitive, so none of the meals they cook have much salt in them. I always cook with sea salt. So, bring low on salt, busy at work drinking a lot of pretty clean, filtered water, then bring an idiot and trying to work out again, which was just a big mistake, pushed me over the limit and lead to my awful cramping episode.

Things to change:

Magnesium supplements are ordered.

Minerals to add to my water are ordered.

Give up on working out. 😕
