Nostr.build isn't Nostr, it's an HTTP cloud storage service with "nostr" in the name.
It's a huge part of what makes nostr nostr. It's other stuff. You also sign events with your keys. You do realise the relays (the R in nostr) are just servers, right?
They also mirror the media to prevent it from being taken down so it’s a very important part of keeping nostr censorship resistant
If a post contains an HTTPS link to an image hosted on Nostr.build and the admins at Nostr.build nuke the file, or a government nukes them, or their DNS provider nukes them, or the government nukes their DNS provider, that post now has a broken HTTPS link which links to nothing whatsoever.
That is the same level of censorship resistance that Google Drive has.
It's not "other stuff", it's stuff other than Nostr.
It is as much Nostr as Google Drive is.
Nostr is a protocol. Nostr.build is an image host like many, it just happens to have "Nostr" in the name.

They are Nostr servers.
Not all servers are Nostr servers. Only those that operate through the Nostr protocol are.
If one can access the servers with a nostr keypair, they are utilizing the nostr protocol.
