i feel bad for abandoning Habla and letting it rot, I had great plans for it and didn't deliver and I'm really sorry for letting you down. for context i'm the only one working at home and I have to pay a mortgage, the bills, raise a kid and feed my family. the little time I have left for open source goes into nostr:npub1gm7gw8q6akeft2pjt270we35vlff0v9g2fene6cxkz2h68q5hl6qls0fte often losing sleep hours just to be able to push the project forward. i'd love to have more time to fix bugs and properly finish the projects i start but the last 20% is the hardest and my brain is fried by the time i finish my duties.

This is why nostr is growing slowly. The pernicious funding problem. Maintaining software costs money. Don't give up hope though!
I feel you hombre!
Really happy to hear you can give your wife and kid that time together tho 😍
they are everything to me, i want them to be as happy and free as possible even if that means i have to sacrifice most of my time working. at the end of the day i'm exhausted but proud 💜 when I see the smile on the little one and we play together for a couple hours before he goes to sleep i think to myself: "it's worth it, keep going!"
Exactly!
We've been avoiding debt and have literally lived with four in a 28 m^2 container-house (that I built on our farm) up until now for that reason.
We're only going (slightly) bigger now because we want more kids 😉.
Having the full fam at home + tight knit small village + amazing food + strong marriage. Beats the rich, materialistic, vice-ridden city life every time.
But why do we always prioritize feeding the very system we are trying to fight?
See, you could have all the time in the world to work on w/e you wanted....if you planned properly to do so.
Did you need a mortgage when there are 3bdrm trailers for $30k or less?
Smaller home smaller bills....
You can raise kids in a trailer same as a house.
Lower bills means you'd have more money for food.
At what point do we admit that most of us fell for the system and there is no getting out of this hamster wheel and simply stacking sats isn't going to save us or the world?
i want my family to live in a nice house they own, and i'm saving as hard as possible so they have more choices than i had. i've been in pretty dark places in the past and lost it all, i had to basically start over a few years ago. i know i'm not getting out of the hamster wheel but they'll have optionality.
It's gotta start somewhere right!? 🫂💜
Focus on raising your children. Have many.
This is how you build the future you want to see, and also why the government uses kids as an excuse for everything, like providing ID to keep the internet safe, but won't actually give us the epstein list.
As different as we all are, kids are something we can all get behind and stand for. As one.
They don't want that.
Onward.
🫂 you've got your priorities straight. The current state of Habla is just a symptom of a broader issue... one that I also understand because the majority of people would rather spend their time doing other things besides reading and writing... until they want/need to do those things.
Excellent of you to share this verbiricha! We've all been there. The good thing is this is not a final state. I open source my stuff and put a link to the repo in hopes of gathering feedback and patches. A donate button is something I'm considering as well if people love the idea and want to support further development. Feel free to DM if you'd like help with Hanla!
thanks for the kind words my fren, i had to get this out of my chest. i'll probably add a monthly donate goal to Habla but i have to clean up and fix a lot of stuff first.
Don't feel bad, grateful for all you've done for nostr

:(

Thank you for what you do.
