Would love to know whether people run the #bitaxe from a grassroots perspective or does it truly give you some returns (when joining a pool). It depends on the model offcourse, but regardless would love to hear some feedback from the #bitaxe community #asknostr

I earn about 50 Sats a day on nostr:npub1qtvl2em0llpnnllffhat8zltugwwz97x79gfmxfz4qk52n6zpk3qq87dze
I haven't bothered to setup a BOLT 12 address to collect yet π
I do it to help decentralise Bitmain from the pools, when nostr:npub1sg6plzptd64u62a878hep2kev88swjh3tw00gjsfl8f237lmu63q0uf63m launches his miner, I will buy one to run in a data centre to help decentralise hardware manufacturers as well.
I do this because of nostr:npub1wnlu28xrq9gv77dkevck6ws4euej4v568rlvn66gf2c428tdrptqq3n3wr explanation here:
Thanks, I'm looking at it in a similar way. I love to add some hashrate just from an idealogical standpoint as I believe in the decentralised nature ofBitcoin. I have read a bit or two about Ocean, I love how they operate. I'm leaning towards solomining and just let it run. Still beed to do more DYOR, kinda new to mining ;)
Ocean don't do any KYC.
I wrote an article comparing solo mining to pool mining here:

Will definitely have a read
Just one additional question nostr:nprofile1qqswswmx4rkj6d7q05dtafhpkqq2z42fc62s37jvtp642m2jkpfxc2cpz4mhxue69uhk2er9dchxummnw3ezumrpdejqz9mhwden5te0ve5kcar9wghxummnw3ezuamfdejsz9mhwden5te0dehhyarfwvhxummnw3erztnrdakspefym9 the #bitaxe is wifi only right? Not having access to 24h wifi signal is going to be an issue, are you aware a solution to connect it to a physical cable?
Yes, thatβs correct. I would prefer a wired connection as itβs more reliable. Iβm not aware of any workaround for this on the Bitaxe, but there are other home miners available. Iβve seen hints that nostr:npub1rxysxnjkhrmqd3ey73dp9n5y5yvyzcs64acc9g0k2epcpwwyya4spvhnp8 is currently looking at home miners, so I expect heβll have a video soon with other options.
I am aware Braiins make a home miner.
I noticed that too, the braiins BMM 101 does seem to draw more power at 40W. I will surely keep an eye on them. It would be ace if one of the many #BitAxe sellers offered a POE version too, imo there is a decent market for that :D
Agreed π
Watching the video, the Braiins is wired ethernet, but the energy efficiency is waaay worse than the BitAxe.
It is showing on the video at 37 W/TH, this compares to what I see on the BitAxe at around 24W/TH.
The Braiins seems to run at 1.5 X the speed of the BitAxe, but requires about 3 times the power.
Indeed
Some interesting things.
Because Braiins use the controversial FPPS (Full Pay Per Share), nostr:npub1rxysxnjkhrmqd3ey73dp9n5y5yvyzcs64acc9g0k2epcpwwyya4spvhnp8 payout is less than mine, despite having 1.5 X the mining power and using 3 X the energy.
He gets 43 Sats per day for 1.15 TH/s, I get around 50 Sats per day for 0.75TH/s
If you haven't watched nostr:npub1wnlu28xrq9gv77dkevck6ws4euej4v568rlvn66gf2c428tdrptqq3n3wr video above, I would recommend. nostr:npub1qtvl2em0llpnnllffhat8zltugwwz97x79gfmxfz4qk52n6zpk3qq87dze don't use KYC, they use Stratum V2, which gives back template control to the miners. And they don't use FPPS, which is a subsidised payout and one that often forces pools to receive loans from Bitmain when pool "luck" drops significantly below 100%.
you're not optimistic enough! you should be solo mining that thing!
I solo mine with a nerd miner π
okay perhaps too optimistic π
I calculated the percentage change of winning a block solo mining here:
https://habla.news/u/mhardcastle@nostrplebs.com/1725912959496
I warn you now, it's not good π
I'm not sure about your numbers. I'm not smart enough to know these things off the top of my head, but it looks like your conversion from EH/s to H/s is off by a lot of zeros. According to a couple of hashrate converters, the current 581 EH/s is 581,000,000,000,000,000,000 H/s. Six commas vs the 18 you used. Am I missing something? I'm probably wrong.
To be fair, the odds are still shit even when compared to winning the jackpot in a lottery. My math shows that currently with a single 625 GH/s Bitaxe and 580 EH/s network hashrate, odds are something around 1 in 928,000,000.
I'm guessing you sent the 2K Sats to my wallet.
π
I think of it as playing the lottery every 10 minutes. Lots of fiat no-coiners play the weekly lottery; a Bitaxe is roughly the same odds and you play every 10 minutes.
I get 57 sats daily with my 2 bitaxe ultra not even the supra hahhaa
You can beat that running an almost shitty nostr account π π
I just run my Nerdaxe currently as a "lottery miner" via solo pool. I don't care if I never earn a dime, I just want to contribute to the network. I have been looking into the Canaan miners and that Braiins mini miner... might pick up a couple to mine through Ocean.
Cool, I reckon you're using Ocean? I'm aligned with your approach.
I tried braiins pool for a couple days to see. 42 satoshis per day with my Supra, daily avg. of 632 Gh/s. For now I'll leave it running as a solo miner.

You better off to nostr:npub1qtvl2em0llpnnllffhat8zltugwwz97x79gfmxfz4qk52n6zpk3qq87dze instead of this proxy pool fiasco π
If I try pool mining again I will, thank you. For some reason I thought Ocean wasn't for smaller hashrate miners.
Until then...

Thx
Solo mining for me.
Solo mining as a cool desk toy for me. If every true Bitcoiner runs a node and has a small hashing machine at home it adds up.
Plebs together strong! πͺ
