There's a reason why all the fruit & honey influencers are either very young, exercise a ton, or both. Those extra metabolic function boosters are necessary to fight off all the carbs they're gobbling down.

Once you no longer have/utilize those things...the truth of the high-carb/high-sugar diet shows.

Dr. Jack Kruse is a perfect example of this. He's SO smart on so many aspects of health, but still falls prey to the "calorie is a calorie" fallacy of the Ray Peat lemmings. He regularly talks shit to carnivores saying stuff like "that's too extreme" and "fruit is just 'stored light' so it's good for you", and other things that those in the circadian-focused subset of the health realm tell themselves to rationalize their sugar addiction.

The results speak for themselves; he's not a healthy person despite everything else he does well.

Diet will always be the bedrock foundation of health, and #ZeroCarb #Carnivore is the peak of that mountain. Light environment is a very close second IMO, but if you haven't cut the carbs out, you'll be spinning your wheels on all higher levels of the game.

I had never seen a picture before, only heard his voice. Wow.

I think I've only seen his head. Indeed, I'm surprised.

Carnivore is the golden ticket. Most people who criticize it have never tried for any meaningful amount of time (at least a few weeks). Once you do and then goes back to eating “healthy” as I have, you realize that there’s no other way than carnivore, the purer (beef only and water) the better. Give it a whirl for 3 months and then come tell me how screwed up I am.

I do respect nostr:npub14am887cf6kvwkce89nt7dsw3v9qrrn0uppxyvr6a2jd7xdwuwccqwnudp2 a ton. He did it pure for over a year and now has gone back to whatever works best for his body, still keeping it animal based. And the dude looks like a beast, even though going shirtless through a grocery store is pretty cringe

I did carnivore for years, as did Saladino.

What did you think? What’s your diet look like now?

Loads of sun, play, and:

Carnivore was great as an elimination diet, excellent for putting muscle, but the lack of carbs was punishing to the thyroid, eventually caused chronically elevated cortisol, dysregulated sex hormones, and mineral wasting.

I appreciate you sharing and explaining. I’m always down to learn and continue experimenting

This Samoan chief ate fish, meat, coconut , root vegetables and tropical fruit all year round. He never fasted or limited carbohydrates. He never went to the gym and did little physical work.

The bioenergetic community is not known for "exercising a ton".

The reason our body can tolerate higher carbohydrate intake comes down to (A) metabolic optimization, (B) gut health, (C) reduction of stress, and (D) a commensurate reduction of fat intake.

I can't think of a single peat influencer who pushes the CICO model of "calorie is a calorie" nor the idea that carbs have to be burnt off with exercise.

You should research the space a bit more in order to make a credible argument.

what would you say to all of the carnivores who gained weight doing that diet?

I did carnivore for years with initial benefit, then harsh reversal. adding back carbs, in context, is what is helping me reclaim my health and energy.

simplifying health to "just eat meat" or "carbs bad" is incredibly reductionist as many ex-keto/carnivores have discovered. for some, it may work for years, maybe a lifetime, but it is not the end-all-be-all diet for everyone.
