You can rebroadcast to another blossom or file server and then update your notes that reference it (using the same capability as is used for post editing).

Ok. You got me :)
Yeah, this is already doable by a combination of tools, but there probably isn't a single smooth experience for this yet.
The big benefit of nostr is that you can backup all your data and rebroadcast it later to different relays. This makes it a better experience than getting rug pulled on mastodon... (Happened to me when the instance I was using shut down)
Well, my original point was that if you want all this backup and integrity, you'll end up with something like AT Protocol PDS, where you have everything together and it's easier to maintain.
It makes sense to me to have an AT Proto PDS (repo with integrity) and broadcast Nostr notes from it. This way it would go to Bluesky relay(s) + Nostr relay(s)
I think that's not a great match for nostr, because on nostr it's desirable for your phone to be able to just collect the events & files and back them up locally or encrypted in cloud of your choosing.
That said it's ok to have a competition of online services to provide such backup functionality too.
Or just run a relay on your device over Tor. Which already exists 👍
I think the idea is that running just relay isn't good enough when your phone dies and it's nice to have an option to back up and restore all your notes from somewhere seamlessly and in an interoperabile way.
On top of that media needs separate handling because of size and serving constraints.
Agreed, it will be nice to see more Haven style relays. Something like Nostr relay tray, with a media component backed onto ipfs would be cool.
Or torrents...
I guess I don't quite understand what you mean. Especially if you want to replicate data, then the AT Protocol repository is ideal for that.
I don't understand the AT Protocol side, so I can't really comment, but it sounded like PDS is sort of a required part of the architecture that runs on the server, it's quite heavyweight to run yourself and not really intended to be run on your phone. I'm also drunk fwiw.
