No your right, I deleted Twitter so I’m pretty much in the dark until I go digging for news, would def help to have some source of news
That’s why I kept asking about building a relay to discuss Politics/Geopolitics (finding a healthy way of doing it + dialogue).
I would definitely appreciate advise and any useful tips to make this happen.
It’s a double edged sword tho, politics tends to divide and come from a Biased perspective no matter how hard people try, with nostr being an all inclusive community it could turn some people off, just my 2 sats I could be completely wrong and it could be amazing
Everything is political to someone. Have you ever listened to old ladies arguing about recipes? It gets as intense as a gun control debate.
Politics doesn't always divide. Instead, it's political conformity that does the division and rewarding it with dopamine-fueled social approval only makes polarization worse. Basically, the like and retweet functions are the problem.
It was difficult to not like the comment. But yes, that’s what I was talking about. Maybe just work to generate a space to discuss facts with respect and balance super extreme perspectives. Users should read for the content and not for the like or follow.
That'd be nice, but you'd be betting against human nature. People like to take sides and form teams. Honestly I'm surprised I haven't seen a MAGA or #Resist type on here yet.
First step would be to find a way to remove the heart and retweet functions. It'd remove the dopamine-driven urge to play to the crowd and force people to form their own thoughts instead of hitting a button to regurgitate someone elses
More news is good. The problem is all the news organizations propaganda wont succeed here, so new news is what is needed.
I don't know if you're in the minority, but you aren't alone in the want.
I'm sure a lot of us still endure Twitter (despite the anguish) to follow news feeds which are not yet here. Hope Matt will help us #grownostr in this area.

I am not familiar with the protocol nor a programmer and do not know if nostr can be modulated, but would there be any interest in seeing a development where keys can create channels or chatrooms and send certain notes to joined key channel guests, with moderation options and such if desired? Perhaps the channels could be created and represented by text between double hashtags.
We need a news relay for people who wanna read news 🤔🤔
