#asknostr

I’m looking for a new laptop with official Linux support from the manufacturer.

** Requirements **

- 13”–14” display

- Good battery life

- Solid build quality (no cheap plastic)

- USB-C with display output

- Preferably elegant and lightweight

- Ideally ships from the EU to avoid high customs fees

People of Nostr, what would you recommend?

Its not often anyone "officialy supports" linux, there are so many flavors of linux... Linux just works, a nice refurbed lenovo carbon if you want a thin laptop, a lenovo t480s if you want some ports. This one comes with linux preinstalled: https://puri.sm/products/librem-14/

System76 but I think they ship from the US

I also hear Framework often (from my religious leader): https://world.hey.com/dhh/the-new-framework-13-hx370-68675e0e

Lenovo Carbon X1 — ships from Asia

Thanks, everyone!

Thoughts on the latest Dell XPS 13?

Unless you need a certain distro pre-installed, you can literally take any machine, even a MacBook and install a distro on it.

Crave that slick MacBook sheen without the city-slicker manbun? Hunt down a used Surface Laptop 3 or 4—cheap, gutsy specs, runs Linux like a wild mustang. Built tough, damn near as solid as those overpriced apples. Live free, compute lean.

check out System76

Used ThinkPad T480 and upgrade RAM. Change disk to nvme
