I'm using simcity as a reference for top-down behavioral design

I also think the cover image of Sim City is part of the psyop… Cities haven’t looked like this good in a long time, they’re falling apart.

Will be more like Night City in Cyberpunk than Sim City

All I see is a picture of a very nice city. If CBDCs are going to bring that then maybe they're not as bad as I thought.

we need to preempt the way collectivists sell this shit

ultimately producers will tend to refuse behavior driven control if they can (because they foot the bill), so this "paradise" is only temporarily possible, while they escape and net consumers are left with nothing (see Argentina)

I heard all their social media requires a DID.

How were they ever bad? They update the current system for efficiency, and make it paper free, something that happened for most other system in the 1990 at the latest.

I have never seen one tangible, comprehensible argument against CBDCs, just slogans and theatrics. “Censorship”, “CBDC” why do substantial subjects always transform into meaningless catchphrases in no time?

because most people have meme-level understanding; they intuit the truth behind memes but have a hard time explaining it -- this is not bad, its just a cognitive shortcut

how are CBDCs bad?

ripe for abuse

a tool that can be used for authoritarianism _WILL_ be used for authoritarianism.

Chekhov's gun

again, see Argentina -- they have monetary authoritarianism all over the place, but they lack a perfect tool for control;

if they could have a 100% perfect tool for control, they would wield that weapon instantly to the detriment of everybody

But they already have that with current central bank currencies, KYC, cash regulations. What meaningful difference do the paper shreds make? Withdrawal limits, easy to counterfeit, difficult to validate, impractical for meaningful transactions, and the KYC theatrics in place of full traceability rob people of their most basic dignity IMO. I want analogue central bank currency, cash, gone, I want the pretense of individual freedom in that system gone, I want efficient, transparent tracking, honesty in the abuse.

They already have the proverbial gun, they keep the cabinet unlocked, and the bullets loaded, CBDCs just remove the veneer.

exactly

CBDCs do remove the veneer.

Just like covid but 10000x more.

Argentineans were abused by the state for decades but only when the corralito was imposed people took to the streets.

CBDCs are covid on steroids.

And covid abuse already awoke an enormous amount of people.

CBDCs will awaken another set of people, and more importantly, more economically impactful people.

Seems we agree, im general at least, so what speaks against, figuratively, dropping the veneer?

I really think that dose of honesty and increased transparency would help people on all sides, rip off the bandaid, and let us figure out a way beyond the already present dilemma, that hides it plain side.

I hope you know what I mean here, because I really appreciate how constructively you engaged in the discussion, instead of just punishing me for going against popular opinion.

Your labor and time is your sovereignty. You call choose to trade that for sats P2P. No CBDCs in that equation. Living on a bitcoin standard takes work and requires a community of others who are willing to exchange goods and services for sats.

We can sit Idly by awaiting CBDCs or we can begin each day educating ourselves, networking with like minded individuals and valuing our time and energy in bitcoin.

The alternative is conceding defeat.

Centralised controle over the issuance of money is bad.

Centralised controle over the use of money is terrible.

But governments already control the use of money, except for some edge cases, and these exploits arguably mainly advantage already wealthy and privileged individuals with more time and means to identify and exploit them.

100% pressurized vs. 99% pressurized = a world of difference

The ability to controle the use of money on a mass scale but individual level is a whole new ball game though.

Well yes if they already do something bad, we should advocate for them to do that bad thing more efficiently. 🙃

Yes, make it more transparent, more equal for wealthy and poor individuals, make it more honest.

lmao, you’re being naive

He needs to learn…

If we had no viable technological alternative to CBDCs with a POW currency, BTC, I would argue for maintaining historic methods too. But since we do, let the conventional system expose itself transparently with CBDCs, and make the alternative obvious. You lose the need for evangelizing, for “Orange pilling”, the technical distinctions immediately become self evident. A BTC standard, “Hyperbitcoinization” move from hypothetical to practical.

good, we’ve bullied you into a less stupid opinion

Sums it up pretty concisely

The government will see all your transactions. It will become impossible to avoid taxes, buy Bitcoin, or do anything at all without them knowing. Plus, they can cut you out of access to any kind of money if so they wish anytime. How is this not horrible?

Not to mention the fact that you can't really buy anything anymore if you don't have internet or electricity? Or if a bug happens that takes the system down?

This is so obviously bad that's why no one has to be saying these things all the time.

CBDCs are an instrument to bring the worst nightmares to reality. Imagine what guys like Hitler could have done with such an instrument. You don't have to bring people into camps when you can just starve them to death by freezing their accounts...

I believe cbdc's are dead on arrival, or pre-birth actually. Drug dealers will not be able to pay in or accept bribes with total control, refutable money. They will not trust it. Graft, drugs, and the criminal element are not errors or bugs in the system, they are natural expressions of human social dynamics and organization. Prison guards need prisoners. A cbdc would be a suicide pill, just like any other command economy or planned city that takes itself too seriously and eventually fails. The economics behind and pushing it are bad. For example the state can demand payment of taxes in cat shit, taxes being a coersed fee for service, but then people will quickly abandon such a state if it also demands we eat it ourselves, or be payed in it. I think we in the non-npc space are entirely too concerned with CBDC's.

Different take, but sounds reasonable to me, unlike the feigned terror before CBDCs. I just say, let them try, they might feel the need to suddenly get honest.

Anyway, thanks for sharing something original and constructive to the discussion.
