Am I the only psychopath that despises touch pads?

I crawl in my skin if I don’t have a cordless mouse with my MacBook.

Am I doing it wrong? Please sell me this touchpad.

No, you're doing it right.

No wireless mice, either. USB Maxi.

I do usb via desktop but the Apple Magic Mouse is dope. I use sofa armchair as a mouse pad. 😬

I actually have a few setups. But I get the hard wire maxi. 👌🏻

It sends zaps when you press-click

My hammer-ous keystrokes always set off the touch pad.

I have the MacBook Pro and the I always accidentally press the Touch Bar and call for Siri. 🫠

Sorry, gotta say I love the MacBook touch pad 💜💜💜

OH man #[1] you’d hate my setup. The security won’t wirelessly connect to anything. So my whole system is wired. Even the wireless printer has a cable

I hate windows touchpads. I like the one on the MacBook though. Once you get used to using various gestures, using the mouse is slower.

Sell me ser. This is what I want to hear.

I’m trying to get over the mental hurdle of brain pain using the touchpad.

My mouse is max sensor and moves so fluid.

The Magic Mouse allows the touchpad features in regards to gestures unless I’m missing something

You are not alone. Linux has touchpad issues that drive me batshit crazy.

What issues?

My particular distro + laptop. If the touchpad gets even a little bit humid, sticky or greasy then cursor will go off the rails and you can't control it. I've installed a special driver which helped but still acts up now and then.

Not good. Not sure what hardware you're on. MacBook trackpad support has improved tremendously over the years. PC trackpads have always been a little clunky to me, but always seem to work as well in linux as they do in windows. I mostly have experience with Debian based distro.

Ubuntu based here. I doesn't happen much anymore. When it does I have to race to get to a mouse so I can shut down properly. Wipe her down with alcohol and that fixes it.

Linux + i3.

Thank me later 😏

Nope. I've never liked them. A mouse is vastly more accurate, faster and easier.

My thoughts. I try to grow, but I feel like I’ve peaked in this comparison.

I need to figure out something that mixes it up for tennis elbow recovery. 🫤

That’s exactly what I need. 😂

I joke but that’s sucks dude.

My mom broke her Humerous riding a horse. She learned to use a mouse left handed through that recovery. Never went back.

Impressive if you can switch your dominant hand.

She had a sling on for a few months. Had to.

Honestly, just watching someone use a touch pad gives me anxiety.

Love the mac trackpad, every other one I’ve used is garbage

I can’t stand cordless mouses and keyboards. One of the worst inventions of all time. 😅

When using a laptop? 😂

Yes. With my MacBook Pro I have it plugged into an external 27 inch monitor with a Logitech Elite keyboard (2001 year model) that is wired and a wired mouse. I’m that picky. 😂

Yeah but that’s basically a desktop rig.

I have 2 office setups with wired everything. I get you. 🤙🏻

amen brother. i hate all the newfangled crap.

i can't even use my iphone, its outside under a granite slab..

ps thought i was following you, fixed that now. 🙏

My office setup at work is a wireless Logitech mouse and keyboard. At least once a day I’m cussing because they lag so far behind my typing it takes awhile for them to catch up. 😅

So, when you are sitting in your living room, on your MacBook… do you use the touchpad or do you have a mouse?

My living room has my computer desk. If I’m traveling and need to take my MacBook I pack my keyboard, mouse, and mousepad in my laptop backpack. I hardly ever use the trackpad.

this is the nice thing about the das keyboard.. dang thing is expensive, but

literally it cannot not keep up. good chipset in the thing. and its solid.

its the closest to an old fashioned hardcore klackity klack i've ever ran into, but has that "Ever" so slightly modern keytravel, but still thwacks if you get all into it.

i think most of us miss building our own towers with 12 fans...

i know i do.

Me too 😆🤣

No. I hate them with a passion.

same people who like them love their membrane keyboard 🙄

No i to despise the things. I got the razer viper 8k and huntsman mini. I am very picky about mechanicals they HAVE TO HAVE THE CLICKY CLICKS 😂

🤣👌🏻

For casual carrying around and in bed i was thinking of going logitech, nice simple and portable for wireless

MX Keys is my Logitech keyboard for my home and work office. Sleek, quiet and metal.

technology isn't allowed in my bedroom.

try it, you will sleep so well you will wonder why you didn't do it sooner.

You sir are living the life I’m a minimalist pleb my living room is literally empty but your on to something there.

minimalism is nice.

its' a great indication that your life was faaaar too complicated and its largely a psychological idopathic detox response.

great step in the right direction.

may i suggest a fountain pen and a pad of vellum paper and daily journaling at the end of the day?

look into kaweco sport, with a cartridge converter, a bottle of j herbin ink, and a pad of claire fontaine paper. you'd be surprised how much a simple ritual like this adds to your overall clarity.

also: I'm just a guy.. but i like to help where i can and see i might be of use. i've lived a lot but i am again also just a guy. :) all thanks go to our heavenly father..for making me exactly what i am. no more no less

I will definitely give that a try for sure, i have done “digital diaries” but there is something about a great ink pen and paper that just cant be matched. I do love reading books to “escape” but self thought and reflection something i do lack at in this moment. Ive almost had my dial turned up trying ti get as much as i can out of my day and not thought about the self therapeutics as no ones approached me in this way for some time. I appreciate the responses and advice!

you are so welcome :)

there's a great deal missing from digital. its entirely disconnected from what it means to EXPRESS .... --YOU.--

There's no substitute.

you wind up enjoying the screw ups as you write, and really enjoying the feedback... your mind is connected directly to the paper... you learn a lot about yourself.. especially once you learn to just let go and write whats on your mind.. its very revealing..

ps - worth mentioning - the 25$ kaweco sport will write just as well as the fancy looking 85$ aluminum models...

look up j herbin 1670 inks if you want to see the one i mentioned its "emerald du chivor" 1670 series.

there is no substitute for time spent with self.. its a direct investment you can't do better, in therapy , with friends, or otherwise. its INTROSPECTION. there is no substitute. <3

Those pens are beautiful!

they write REALLY well. when my digital camera figures out why it hasn't loaded the

you're not doing it wrong.

xinput float 16 && 17 && 18 and the whole mess goes away..

i only use my laptop with a mechanical keyboard and secondary mouse..

anything else is psychotic.

Touchpads suck

I love a touch pad. Even cordless. Great for gestures which make work flow more streamlined

I don't do graphics work. I use keyboard mostly with lots of shortcuts. Touchpad works well enough when I need to move a mouse pointer. My thumb is always close to the touchpad. One less thing to store in my bag and keep charged.

But I totally understand how a mouse is better than a touchpad for frequent pointing and clicking.
