If you're not a developer (and even if you are), you could do a lot for Nostr by writing nonfiction topic articles for the wiki.

Doesn't have to be anything glamorous or even well-known, just information that is well-structured and covers some particular topic.

Your favorite author or city, how to care for Bonzai trees, Puerto Rican cooking, different sorts of knitting loops, etc.

nostr:npub1csamkk8zu67zl9z4wkp90a462v53q775aqn5q6xzjdkxnkvcpd7srtz4x9 You write a lot about your city or Iranian diaspora or your family's ancestral region. This would be a great way to share that with the world.

nostr:npub1l2vyh47mk2p0qlsku7hg0vn29faehy9hy34ygaclpn66ukqp3afqutajft all nostr links need to display correctly. (npub, naddr, etc.)

This will probably be automatically fixed when I update the ndk version today

Even better.

πŸ˜‚ It's on.

My entire head is full of obscure information, so I'm going to be flooding the wiki. 🀣

There are some Wikipedia articles missing on some topics, and I had considered contributing, so you guys have given me my true calling as a topical journalist.

No take-backs! πŸ˜€

nostr:npub1xuc7z6wskwqk7jj2ntyyce42gg757n4q7794dgwljpsfhpd7pzzshc97xc Would you be willing to write one on the gold standard? It wouldn't have to be long, just so that we have an article to that topic.

A lot of people feel comfortable altering a wiki article, but would never write one for a new topic, so simply getting lots of topics covered by something that isn't nonsense, is how you get the ball rolling.

Also doesn't matter which language you write in.

I'm Illiterate πŸ˜‚

So are many of the Wikipedia writers. πŸ˜…

Doesn't really matter, as it's a wiki and someone can just fork your article, correct your grammar, and ask you to merge them. The grammar police would finally have something useful to do, rather than trying to fork people's GM notes.

Wiki tools I am aware of are

https://next.nostrudel.ninja/#/wiki

https://wikifreedia.xyz/

https://wikinostr.tijl.xyz/welcome

Feel free to list more of them, if you know of any. ☺️

nostr:npub1l5d4fta49u8fz5lld7ewzvplgzug2a7qwrll3ejkee3ndxm29e9sgyz23f , you're a good writer, could you maybe write one on the Black Forest or Stuttgart or the Rhein, someone famous from your region, or something? You could write it in English, German, or do one version of each.

nostr:npub1q6ya7kz84rfnw6yjmg5kyttuplwpauv43a9ug3cajztx4g0v48eqhtt3sh What about an article about metalwork?

nostr:npub13tahtl9pjw9u5ycruqk84k6sfmkyljsr7y2pc4s840ctlm73fxeq3j6e08 could you write one on something Catholic? Maybe it's just something you've seen misrepresented elsewhere, that's always annoyed you.

GM. I cannot DM u via damus

Did you get my DM, just now?

Nope

Hmm... weird.

Well, then you're going to just have to write it here. πŸ€·β€β™€οΈ

A good idea 😊, when I'm back home I'll think about what I could write about

Nice idea πŸ‘πŸΌ

I love this idea!!! πŸ˜€πŸ˜€πŸ˜€

Oof... I would NOT know where to start. That's not just an article. If I had the time, I could write many volumes about that...

Then do that, then. 😁

Write an overview page, naming the various topics you want to write about, with a short summary. And then add the subpages and link them in, later.

Eeeeh... I'd rather write my own book. For now... LOL

Then write your own book 😁 What would it be about? A non-fiction book?

Slowly.

It's a fantasy novel.

Are you already writing it? Wow! I think that's great. I have one I've started in the β€ždrawerβ€œ 🫣

Yes. In fact, I am still soliciting readers for the first section of the book. Would you be interested?

I would love to read it πŸ™πŸΌ

I DMed you.

Wait you’re writing a book ??

Yes.

Awesome. Don’t hesitate to share it here when you’re ready πŸš€πŸš€πŸš€

I will, but that's still a long way off. I'm kinda stalled at the moment. I have to figure out one main part of it before I can write any further and I have too many options... LOL

What kind of book?

Fantasy.

fun.

Yup. I'm writing something I would want to read.

I'll be interested in reading it.

Write about beavers. πŸ˜‚

That's also a book. People underestimate the influence of the beaver on the water sheds of both Europe and North America.

Most of the water issues the US has currently are due to the massive decline in beaver population (from an estimated 2-400 million to ~9)

Yeah, like that. πŸ˜‚

I just dug my own grave, didn't I?

πŸ˜…

πŸ˜‡

😜

I was recently reading about someone whose creek had dried up. They brought beavers back and the creek started flowing again.

Yup! I've been learning a LOT about water management lately from the perspective of permaculture, and it's utterly fascinating.

Hmm how about an article about root welding with cellulosic electrodes?

I could do that...

I'm wondering if you're an engineer that I might get along with... LOL

I work in welding so… and I don’t really like engineeringβ€¦πŸ˜…

Oh. Well... That is pretty cool. 😁

I'll add a write up on my home town over the weekend, God knows I love the local history

nostr:npub1yx6pjypd4r7qh2gysjhvjd9l2km6hnm4amdnjyjw3467fy05rf0qfp7kza You could write one on the tech stack you're using for Corny Chat.

I started the article for audiospace or audio-space

It got lost a few weeks ago.

We need to solve the permanence problem with wikifreedia

What relays were you writing to?

Hard to say from a few months back. Certainly stuff like yakihinne, nos.lol, damus.

I'll look into again sometime. Just seemed odd that I could no longer find what I had written.

i guess technically its likely not a wikifreedia issue unless something changed with kind numbers or tag requirements.

Add theforest.nostr1.com to your wikifreedia relays.

If you add it through the wikifreedia client it will publish an event that signals the you want it as part of your wiki relay list πŸ˜‰

(Which means wiki clients should auto connect to that relay when you use them and your followers should connect to that relay for your wiki entries, same idea as outbox model basically)
