Sounds likely. Gold will surely have its place in the future, but it will likely not be a monetary instrument, just a raw material like any other, used for jewellry and industrial applications.

The whole point is that this is not a disagreement with you regarding bitcoin. Not in the best technology we have so far. Bitcoin aims to be the digital gold and used in any situation like gold disregarding the devaluation of the paper tickets. Thats it. Gold is the alternative irl in any situation for now. And this is also true. Disregarding either is stupid. Different commute exists for a reason, choosing one is a choice or a lack of it. One day that checkpoint may accept bitcoin as preferable in the worst situation possible, taking the gold or torturing out a seed phrase is no diff. Of course it will be better for no checkpoint anywhere at all but that not how things go. The whole argument is like the differense between a physical and digital asset, what is useful works regarding situation. If you’re older and/or retired or otherwise unemployed, timeframes matter very much.
They also matter because of Bitcoin’s downward volatility for things like businesses, etc. and when thinking about expenses you must meet in the next 6 months to few years (depending on where we are in the cycle) like child support, rent, or payroll.
