Amethyst

Obsidian

The real right answer

Exactly 😂

Obsidian takes the cake.

Obsidian

Centralized I’m going with Notion

Currently using only Apple notes for the past year to see if I can get buy for my needs, and I can, but obsidian is light years better in every way except for encryption and collaborative notes

Markor + syncthing.

I just started self hosting Joplin to transition to though, and it seems pretty nice so far. Also thinking of standing up Memos.

I like obsidian and Notesnook

obsidian

I like QOwnNotes and Joplin.

Pen and paper 📝

Jill. She's meticulous, punctual, and doesn't talk back.

Oh.. you said app.

vim

emacs! but yes, .txt files

Logseq

I first thought this was far from true, but now I'm a maximalist. It's like leaving the stone age of note taking.

Oh that's for sure logseq but I never find time to master it. It so powerful note taking app 💪🏻

just spawm a terminal and start writing.

If you will need your note for more than a session you can highlight the text, then launch "vim note.txt" and middle click your note in it.

:wq!

I use syncthing and I make notes in Markdown.

Mousepad

your mind

vi

Obsidian is my go to. But I like NotesNook encryption and interoperability between iOS and desktop. If you want minimal my good friend developed these https://auertools.com/

These look pretty good. Could your friend be persuaded to port these to use Nostr as a backend?

nostr:npub1zuuajd7u3sx8xu92yav9jwxpr839cs0kc3q6t56vd5u9q033xmhsk6c2uc how do you feel about reusing the MLS spec for other subprotocols?, like we define a NIP for simple notes, then notes clients create a group with all your devices (assuming it's just for personal usage and only you will see your notes) and use some selected relays to save and sync your notes encrypted using the group key.

Possibly. He built these, I did the design/UX, because nothing else suited our needs - sound familiar...? If he does not have time to do this himself, can he share the code for others to leverage for nostr? Let me ask him...

So he says he does not have time to port them, but the code is open source and he'd be happy to share.

Obsidian, hands down

Never used this plugin

The "core" software is top shelf stuff though.

logseq

Emacs org mode

Obsidian

Simplest txt editor you can get on the device.

Tiddlywiki.com . Even my wikis from 2005 still work. Host it on your server or carry it around as single file. HTML/JS that's all. I like the Stroll-Plugin for nice context linking and displaying.

vim and some text files in different directories

+ 1 for Obsidian

Would actually shift my note-taking to Nostr if there's a simple app on it like Google keep that I can use to organise and sync notes across my personal devices

I use Obsidian as my daily driver.

I use Notesnook on my phone. It’s free so interpret that how you want. It syncs to a webpage. They say it’s end to end encrypted.

Obsidian is were its at!

I have yet to find anything as good as ever-note, open source, or otherwise. When I was working more it was worth the premium.

I think this is the only thing that comes close.

Emacs: org mode.

Yes, I'll do that on my cheap Android phone.

It's also an OS!

I use Upnote on mac. It's decent but not great.

Tried Obsidian but don't like the markdown focus (same reason I don't like NIP-23 for long form content).

behold, the most edited note of all time. surely this note, is the most refined, the most well thought out and perfectly crafted note in existence.

1000 edits.

Obsidian

Bear. Obsidian, strong second place.

Happy Notesnook user.

Open source and zero knowledge!

Try https://standardnotes.com/ and thank me later.

GM!

Certainly not the best note-taking app (yet), I made a simple list app which works offline and syncs via nostr with a shared nsec
