My take: We should've never left Twitter.

Nostr is great for us, but this is an echo chamber and the people need Bitcoin maximalists.

If all the freedom focused Bitcoiners spend years isolated on their own protocol it doesn't help anyone.

We need to do a digital crusade and go push all the scammers, spammers, and shitcoiners out of the culture again.

I agree with you too. Nostr will always be here though, it's not going anywhere.

The fight we need to be fighting is for Bitcoin and Bitcoins principles and we need to be doing that in the public square.

We tried to bootstrap this for a few years and its been fun, but the rest of the space has lost something in our absence. We must return and set things right.

Yep. I've been thinking basically this since I joined nostr about a year ago. I could never get on twitter because every time I tried, they banned my account with no reason given, so I was very happy nostr became a thing, but I don't think its been good for the bitcoin community.

You work for a nonprofit which does work furthering Bitcoin, you're a public figure who has influenced thousands of people, and your voice was important in setting the tone of our culture from 2019-2023.

I still have Twitter, and although I hardly use it, I still post there occasionally only to remind people I'm on nostr, and not using Twitter, and if they want to engage with me or my content, that's where to find me. Only one person out of the 300 or so I was mutuals with came to nostr since I joined last September 🤷🏼‍♀️

On contribution side, agreed. On receiving side it’s been a tough few months, but reclaimed time, sanity and reduction in stress has been worth it. My experience is the growing number of news contributors on NOSTR provide adequate coverage. It has helped to have a willing like-minded friend forwarding highlights from Twitter but I wouldn’t throw anyone under the bus just for this privilege.

we never should have joined twitter. we thought it was good enough because it had an open API. eventually they even got rid of that. Freedom lovers need to use Free Software. You can avoid the echo chamber by connecting to wss://relay.mostr.pub & wss://relay.momostr.pink and following folks across the bridge.
