Do you pay a mortgage? Do you pay property taxes?
If so, do you believe you own your home? Regardless of yes or no to the last question, why do you believe that?

We aren’t permanent beings, pickle Daniel, nobody can truly own anything.
When I die, someone else will live in “my” home so was it ever truly “mine”? No.
That being said, I would rather pay my own mortgage than someone else’s.
i own nothing
my Wife owns everything
Hell no you don't own your home and there's no reason to own a home anymore with bitcoin
Do you rent your current place of living?
Yes I pay a mortgage.
No. I own a title not a property. It's been made apparent here very recently. As old land claims are being recognized by the tax collectors

I like the language you used about owning a title not a property.
Thank you. I like questions like this because the language is a very important aspect of a good answer.
I'm getting older and need to learn some important things. I have to go out and find that information and people who can provide it genuinely.
Thank you, Dan! 🫂
I think we are renting it from the government here in America.
Most people are renting it from banks, if you have a mortgage (pay till you die)
But the USA 🇺🇸 has imminent domain which says they can pay you what they think it’s worth if they want to build a road.
Never seen a U-Haul behind a Hearse.
Certainly pros to renting.
You're the 2nd person I've ever heard say the U-Haul thing lol. My dad says it all the time and has even told me I have to go rent a U-Haul for his funeral procession 🤣
If it can be taken by not paying then i dont truly own it. Can i do alot by living in an unincorporated area yes but the county can still sell it out from under me if i dont pay to keep it.
Say more about living in unincorporated areas? I've been casually land shopping for a while.
You have less permitting requirements if you were to go the legal route. County inspectors and officials are usually not as uptight. And an added plus if your land is zoned ag (AHJ dependent) what you can build opens up. A barn or outbuilding needs far less. I had a shed and inspector told me put an outlet in it. Once I sign off what you do isn't my business because I already signed off on power.
Currently working on building a machine shop for gun work and other hobbies.
There isn’t an asset in the world that can’t be taken from us under the threat of violence.
You own what you own until they decide you don’t.
"You will own nothing and be happy"
Yes. Yes. It's simple. Not your keys, not your house. ANYTHING can be stolen from you at ANYTIME, but you can make it harder and harder to steal from you... so hard that it disincentivizes the vast vast majority of people, or groups of people, from trying to steal that thing from you.
You can absolutely own things while you're alive, but you can't take anything physical with you of course.
Yes yes no. Property taxes are among the worst kind of theft. Fuck the government.
I own the physical structure, it is property meaning I can destroy it with no harm to another. I do not own the land, I hold title to the land (defined surface area of the earth). My piece of land can’t be destroyed and will always exist as long as the earth exists. The government helps defend my claim of exclusive use of my land granted by title. This is why land taxes are fair and property taxes are theft.
The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to him....
No mortgage, but yes on property tax. It's less than $35 per year, yet it means we're renting it from the government 🙄
