Getalby will allow you to “self custody” BUT you have to run your own node, maintain a full Bitcoin node, maintain a channel with a size that can accommodate your largest payment, etc..
If you could do all that you would not need getalby’s services.

Problem:
Economists don’t understand negative interest rates.
So let’s say #BTC has an interest rate of say -4.0%.
What that means is that if I borrow 100 #BTC from you today, then I will have to pay you back only 96 #BTC next year.
But from my perspective that wouldn’t make sense, I would just hold it for another year and pay you back 92.16 #BTC. Driving that to its logical conclusion I hold for 50 years and only owe you 1BTC
Understanding negative interest is mind boggling for most economists.
Now this is why capital gains tax is unjust. Your capital asset (house, farm, etc) never became worth more, the dollar just weakened. But needless to say the GOV even wants a portion of your weaker dollar.
I don’t view it as useless or worthless I view it as finally getting to go independent. I have millions of projects I want to do none I have time for.

One more question. I noticed you are using fountain.fm, is there any reason you are not using phoenix, muun, (my favorite Breez), Zeus, or some other self custody wallet? I am ASSUMING fountain.fm is custodial.
1. The LNURL-pay protocol is complex for most. Requires the dynamic on the fly creation of a payment address.
2. WOS keeps open 100,000,000,000 mSat channels, so does fountain.fm
3. #Nostr is going to introduce millions of people to Bitcoin (really SATS and #zaps) teaching them the principles of, Hot (billfold), Warm (checking account), Cold (hardware, multi-sig, air-gap) is far more important.

If I was the science teacher in that science class trying to teach kids about global warming I would do that exact same experiment but would make sure that they started with a water at exactly 3.5°C heat it 1 degree, slowly and ask them to explain what happened they’d be so confuse.

There is one number in the article it states that thermal expansion accounts for about 1/2. Using my above caculation, that might be about 2-4 inches of sea level rise.
BUT
AVERAGE SEA TEMPERATURE:
The usually quoted value is 3.52 degrees Celsius. This is the volume-weighted average, calculated some decades ago from many thousands of measurements throughout much of the ocean. It is in fact the potential temperature.
Water has a negative coefficient of thermal expansion below 4°C, indicating that its volume decreases when temperature moves from 0°C to 4°C. The coefficient of thermal expansion of water is not constant and is not even linear.
SO IT ACTUALLY SHRINKS, contracts for the first .5C rise, before it even starts to expand.
