Almost got there with my Samsung S10, but some stubborn aspects that couldn't be overwritten by flash. So went with the standard.
It's about the sandboxing and about removing the os from 'collaborating' with apps to pipe your information who knows where. You can watch the traffic to verify the difference.
I'm not graphene support or really involved but I do like it enough to use as daily driver for last two years... and run foss/secure apps on top.

Was running the bisq samourai dojo triad with sparrow and coldcard in the background. Isolated nkyc stack ecosystem.
Build myself rather than get through app store, and with the added context of graphene... seemed legit.
I know the devs are a grumpy bunch but that alone doesn't put me off.
But... I'm evolving/rethinking my whole strategy this year based on everything I learned.
So open to challenge/advice.

I flashed a Pixel 4 with GrapheneOS two years ago and haven't looked back since.
I'm now on my second edition, a refurbished Pixel 5, it just works.
Today I reflashed the old Pixel with 'default' Google Bloat... and yuck, it feels like you're being assaulted by the phone at every turn. Google this. Google that. All the apps sharing data with each other and with the panopticon, whether you like it or not.
Never tried Calyx but I got the sense that compromising between privacy and conveniencee meant larping while leaving the back door open wide.

1οΈβ£ Too much reliance on the instance runner, for access but more importantly for privacy and dox protection.
2οΈβ£ Petty behaviour of instance runners blanket banning other instances, which for some strange reason meant Bitcoin was silenced while Fetish Cartoons ran free.
3οΈβ£ Never delivered on the promised of decentralized identity and content, so there's no incentive to invest any real time and effort in creating or curating content there (even with the whole 'interoperable activity pub' thing.
I had joined No Agenda Social briefly once the eviction notice was given for Bitcoin Hackers. However, I'm enjoying No Agenda on Fountain and if #[0] is really using #Nostr then I'm sure I will find more and more NAS Enthusiasts here in time.

Even if you don't subscribe to this value thinking, consider that the on ramps and off ramps are already being choked off, and that as we move from cash to 'checkpoint banking' to full CBDC, your window for acquiring is narrowing fast. If you're not already building a parallel nkyc stack then get started with the research now.
I'm class of 2017 so the trading cycle doesn't excite me that much now... it looks like it's going to the moon and then, just as everyone starts projecting to infinity, it comes back down.
