Yes indeed, and much seems to originate close to Spotify HQ and appears on a lot of playlists but I'm sure nothing suspicious is happening...

The Internet WILL continue.

No idea to be honest and truthfully I don’t know how I feel about this. On the one hand, I dislike Spotify and see this as a knock against them so woohoo! but I also work in music and this takes work that was already not getting the income it should and puts it up for further exploitation. However, I much prefer pirates over fuckers that extract huge amounts of cash from musicians.

It's frustrating for me that nostr clients like nostr:nprofile1qy2hwumn8ghj7etyv4hzumn0wd68ytnvv9hxgqtxwaehxw309anxjmr5v4ezumn0wd68ytnhd9hx2tmwwp6kyvtkx46kv7tgx3kxketnd3nhs7rrvdkxwwrxxp585ct6dpshwdmjwdexsanxw96hs7ndxfnxkd35vvmny6rswv6r2m3swc6n7cnjdaskgcmpwd6r6arjw4jsqgr98zf9a0akv86p3kx86p6tachg4lthsuqamzg8psk6jdk4w8j4cv6qcgkr and nostr:nprofile1qy2hwumn8ghj7etyv4hzumn0wd68ytnvv9hxgqgdwaehxw309ahx7uewd3hkcqpqyfg0d955c2jrj2080ew7pa4xrtj7x7s7umt28wh0zurwmxgpyj9sldm58v have email walls set up around them.

Straight up, I didn't come here to replicate my experience from web 2.0. We don't need analogues of existing systems. I did it with wavlake and I am on the fence now feeling like I regret it.

That alone is a shitty feeling as an artist. Did I do the wrong thing for me as the creator? Did I really wanted this release tied to existing systems? It's a distraction from my creative flow honestly.

It just feels energetically shitty being tied to that paradigm. Why do you need my email? If you have a newsletter or something you want to push, just ask people. I would gladly spin up an anon email pointing to mine so I see what you want to promote.

At my core I am here to support.

Why didn't I just do that in the first place you ask? They don't accept them so far and I was tired of wasting time entering them in and getting denied.

I might pull down the release and wait until a client comes around who I can sign into with nos2x with...

nostr:nprofile1qy88wumn8ghj7mn0wvhxcmmv9uq32amnwvaz7tmjv4kxz7fwv3sk6atn9e5k7tcqyqt79zylhgqsy8gy3gfl6zappzknrsuryc54gcxzre5ug0agl0j32r5td2a is this a functionality you plan to have available on nostr:nprofile1qy88wumn8ghj7mn0wvhxcmmv9uq32amnwvaz7tmjv4kxz7fwv3sk6atn9e5k7tcqyrgm6venxueae3q37rhgjwechpfzlsx7yfll73vanyzyemv7v4vpky728r9? or is the plan to pull in from wavlake and fountain? I didn't quite understand the video you sent me (not a coder, so I was lost lol)

I know the feeling… I put a couple of bits out on Wavlake and the instant gratification of sats was cool but I then felt I was giving over control of the work to another platform, all be it with a better payments scheme.

I now aim to release as RSS and physical only, I do a daily music show (playing other people’s music but also a lot of things I’ve engineered etc) and I self host using Castopod, that works on the ActivityPub protocol. This also enables music releases. I put something up a couple of months ago to test the tech and it appears to work well. Visibility is an issue, the only social media I use is the Fediverse and Nostr. I’m at the stage where if I can’t self host it, I’m not really interested (Nostr is different but I need to up my skills level to take on Blossom servers).

I don’t have any great answers, I’m just a weirdo sound guy tinkering in a shed but at least I’m not dancing to some other bastard’s tune. A better system is possible but it’s on us to figure it out.

This is interesting… Anna’s Archive scrapped 99% of music and meta data from Spotify.

I had this thought yesterday and went to throw it up here, spent forever writing it out on mobile and FB opened out of nowhere, somehow force closed Primal and I lost everything. I am going to remove it from my phone completely along with all other meta garbage. #fuckzuck

That being said, the thought was. I wonder if any dance music producers and DJs that have a following on nostr have ever said "where do you want me to play? Zap me to your city!"

I know myself and other artists I have been booked with, opened for etc like Stanton Warriors, JFB and so many more would play anywhere people wanted us. Like anywhere, we arent scared. I live in a country at war and come from a cartel run nightmare of a town in the 80's/90's

Realistically, Wherever people genuinely want us to be is where we truly want to perform.

Yes, money is a thing in our reality. Venue owners and promoters book artists to sell tickets (for the most part, our venue The Craft by ColYve in Cambodia is a different business model, still involves tickets though). So they can only guess what people may or may not want to see based often on extremely bias opinions and inflated social accounts.

Followers could change all that system realistically. For instance, if people wanted to see me play in Ghana, I wouldn't hesitate in the slightest (just a random thought) if there were enough zaps to get me there. I would waive my fee for one of the shows while I am there, followers choice as to where. Then I could book a tour around that area and make up my fee from other promoters.

Then people could also zap me to cities in that area of the world for cheaper.

It's a super loose thought, but I wondered if any artists have put it out there and what it looked like if they did. Zap = ticket or VIP or something. Open to any discussion.

I have no following on here as I just started, so this isn't really a question about me specifically as an artist, more in general. Thoughts?

It’s an interesting thought… I can’t think of any dance music/DJs on here with significant following (but may not have seen if they do). I know both nostr:npub19r9qrxmckj2vyk5a5ttyt966s5qu06vmzyczuh97wj8wtyluktxqymeukr and nostr:npub13qrrw2h4z52m7jh0spefrwtysl4psfkfv6j4j672se5hkhvtyw7qu0almy get around quite a bit on the V4V circuit, maybe they could chip in?

Same… I think Blossom servers would be the self hosted option?

Gonna be building a new home server in the NY and that’s on the list… although archiving the daily streams I do as video isn’t really practical, maybe I could hold for a day or so.

Yep. I thought you’d be the only one here to catch this one. Thanks for the music Mr Downie.

At last.

Just tried zapping this but an error said Bolt11 too short?

History will show our greatest mistake was to take echo chambers out of the recording studio and put them on the Internet. Foolishness.

Was so much nicer then, now it's just trees and people jogging.

Just trying on desktop for the first time… my first impressions are good, UI is slick, my only criticism at this stage would be the ‘for you’ tab, seems to be all the usual influenzas I have no interest in, eg Mr Dorsey might be very good with computers but his bare deep 3 word posts don’t really do it for me, same can be said for most of the Podcast Industrial Complex. Would be great to see more musicians, artists or other creatives featured there.

I see there’s a choice of calendars, would be nice to see the Ethiopian calendar, if that’s an option, niche I know…

Lots of customisation options, that’s cool! Need to explore fully… good luck!
