Find the genius that thought of running YouTube comments through an incredibly puritan ai filter and make sure they never ever work in tech again

“Misinformation” indeed (it’s really bad with Covid)

“Protecting the community” indeed

🎙️ Defending Liberty, Property Rights, Bitcoin, and Free Speech in Australia 🇦🇺

My guest today on nostr:nprofile1qy28wumn8ghj7mtfwdekkete9ejx2umfvahqzrthwden5te0dehhxtnvdakqqgxup0q7qdfxz7mm6rm4dpr06y80lrtg22nut2n7zyacr8mp05lc3u69jf2l is John Ruddick, a member of the Legislative Council of New South Wales and the first Libertarian Party representative elected to an Australian Parliament. John brings a radical yet refreshing perspective to modern politics, grounded in a fierce commitment to civil liberties and decentralization. We explore his political philosophy, his call for dramatically shrinking government, and his vision for reimagining welfare through competition and compassion. We discussed:

* Why John's maiden speech in Parliament was banned from YouTube

* Australia's authoritarian COVID response and jab damages

* Free speech, government overreach & the limits of state power

* The philosophical roots of libertarianism: Rand, Rothbard, and Friedman

* Can Anarcho-Capitalism work? A debate on shrinking government

* Private free cities as a model for voluntary governance

* Why Bitcoin and libertarianism are natural allies

* Separation of money and state

* Australia’s political history

Everything is “banned from YouTube”

Not that the people who use the private platform argument will ever care but they should face serious legal consequences for not taking their role more seriously as a video repository

That’s how you end up with YouTube

Yeah we’re just gonna remove all these actually relevant videos

They contain misinformation

(Until they don’t)

I’ve seen too much from the last few years for me to take political labels seriously or what’s misinfo and what isn’t

Facebook is fucking unusable, it is dead as a product but people tend to insert their own ideological biases of like, “vaccine misinformation”

There has to be a way for people to criticize social media products in a way that goes beyond ideology where instead people talk about the actual quality of the product

From what I understand I’m connected to the default relays and the “recommended” ones

I have no particular desire to add more but it does make me wonder how far my posts actually reach

Reddit already bans selectively (subreddit mods and their concentrated power) and that doesn’t help and a lot of accounts must be inorganic

I think it’s really sad pirate bay (thanks in part to Sunde) became known as the “we kinda just stopped working on it” product rather than you know, the legally dubious raids

And seriously it’s the right idea that they had, a distributed tracker system
