Huge thanks to nostr:npub1v5ufyh4lkeslgxxcclg8f0hzazhaw7rsrhvfquxzm2fk64c72hps45n0v5 for the opportunity to support podcasters directly. And for the cool rewind showing what I was able to stream and boost from bdentzy@fountain.fm this past year.
GM Nostr!
Have you checked your 2024 nostr:npub1v5ufyh4lkeslgxxcclg8f0hzazhaw7rsrhvfquxzm2fk64c72hps45n0v5 Rewind stats?
What does this say about me:
1. I prefer to stream over boosting (think “zap” but podcasting).
2. There are a few shows I like to support.
Not in this data: I tried a few different apps this year. :-)

Both. But I prefer the first.

Can you use AWS's Amazon SES to send a mailing list all by itself?
It's got contact list management, templates for email, automated unsubscribe/bounce handling, and open rate measurement, and clicktracking. So you'd think... yay!
Except, no.

Wow
Good to know. At least I’m in good company :-)
Thanks nostr:npub177fz5zkm87jdmf0we2nz7mm7uc2e7l64uzqrv6rvdrsg8qkrg7yqx0aaq7. Ive added a bunch more favorites. One thing I’ve noticed (I’m very new to IPFS) is that my peer count can vary pretty widely from < 20 to 100+.
I’ve checked to confirm that my port is open but I’m wondering if the variability in peer count indicates some kind of instability I need to look into.
I’ve been running ipfspodcating.net for over a year on my Start9 and it works great. Also made 13k in sats from the splits Adam mentioned just for hosting files.
nostr:npub1uqwyafrvsf9z8tyn8gtk40au72znradyla29852uvmdl6lnpz8nsyz43la and nostr:npub15z2javq62eh2xpms7yew0uzqsk4dr7t3q3dq4903uuxdyw2ca3kstx6q95 use it a ton to help distribute their podcasts and music.
I’m at about 12 sats after a month. Not much, but something. Maybe there are some settings I need to adjust to be a better media host.
Good thing they didn’t check here. I think i already have 2 mastodons on my phone :-)
One problem podcasting has, and the Podcast Index is no different, is for it to be widely searchable, a directory is needed. That's what the Podcast Index is. They upload the database every Saturday for anyone that wants to use it instead of relying on the Index, but you'll always be 1-7 days behind the Index. The reality is though, most PC2.0 apps rely on getting feed info from the Index. One thing nostr may be good for is having several copies of the Index available so if one server goes down, the others are available as a back up. I don't know enough about nostr to say how that would work or if it would, but if any of you nostriches are up to the challenge, having the Index across several relays would be huge.
Here's the latest upload of the database. https://public.podcastindex.org/podcastindex_feeds.db.tgz
This would be super cool. especially if it was possible for the inexperienced people (like me) to use a Start9 or Umbrel to be part of the podcast index party even if we don’t necessarily want to host a public Nostr relay.
I don’t know but I have the same question.
nostr:npub1v5ufyh4lkeslgxxcclg8f0hzazhaw7rsrhvfquxzm2fk64c72hps45n0v5 why can't I connect my primal wallet ?

I was able to connect Strike and ZBD but I only transfer in/out. I use the fountain wallet in-app and I think that’s the only option.
Malcom comes to mind. No reason, though.
Looking forward to season 2!
Mark and Steve are great and I can’t way to see what they do.

I love what nostr:npub126ntw5mnermmj0znhjhgdk8lh2af72sm8qfzq48umdlnhaj9kuns3le9ll and nostr:npub1aghreq2dpz3h3799hrawev5gf5zc2kt4ch9ykhp9utt0jd3gdu2qtlmhct are making possible. I never imagined I would have a self-hosted bitcoin and lightning node.
And without what they and nostr:npub1getal6ykt05fsz5nqu4uld09nfj3y3qxmv8crys4aeut53unfvlqr80nfm, nostr:npub1axp4n6rvpytle39f3vcvsz34u0a5pe35ez6sl2uvyxxh4snchyhs86vrf0, nostr:npub17ds78tn4df3gtln02pn4dws4clrhvy34p4c6pxujy845sdxvtrns34n3lz, nostr:npub1v5ufyh4lkeslgxxcclg8f0hzazhaw7rsrhvfquxzm2fk64c72hps45n0v5, and so many more are doing, I wouldn’t be able to send and receive sats in the podcasting space.
It shouldn’t be. Your alby address should be [something] @ getalby [.] com
Wish I knew enough to help troubleshoot but I’d just be asking a bunch of dumb questions and going around in circles right now.
I know nostr:npub1getal6ykt05fsz5nqu4uld09nfj3y3qxmv8crys4aeut53unfvlqr80nfm has a good support site. And you can also open up a live chat with support.
I just spun up a self-hosted lightning node this week on a DIY Start9. Integrated it with AlbyHub and got everything flowing properly in and out.
There were a few bumps along the way, but it works. And it’s my first time doing anything like this.
Then, any podcast app that uses the Alby integration can function on top of a self-hosted node.

Just did the same on a DIY nostr:npub126ntw5mnermmj0znhjhgdk8lh2af72sm8qfzq48umdlnhaj9kuns3le9ll. Feels kind a good :-)
