She did alright after that.

Mailboxes on a back road in Princeton, near Half Moon Bay. They caught my eye, standing at attention like that. There was probably a fight - one of them lost its head - and the drill sargent is getting ready to chew them out.

That is all.

Window reflections, 15 years ago, Worcester, Massachusetts. I doubt anything has changed since then.

The Douglas fir is native to western North America. It has a conical shape and is suitable for planting in residential settings.

In a few hours, across the U.S.A, cellphones will make an unpleasant sound. Do not be alarmed! It's just FEMA testing the Emergency Alert System.

Unless it's more.

According to cultists, today's test is the start of an zombie apocalypse. The cultists claim the 5G broadcast signal has been designed to activate Marburg Virus nanoparticles in COVID vaccines and virus will turn us all into zombies.

Okay!

Seriously, I'm not worried. This is not my first Apocalypse, nor my second or third. But in any case, Happy 5G Zombification Day, everyone!!!

Something I regret not swiping from my eye doctor's office.

Fort Cronkhite always makes me think fondly of the old American newscaster Walter Cronkite (no relation)... and the wonderful story Walter's wife Betsy told about Walter on a late night TV show.

Betsy said "Walter always wanted to go out like Errol Flynn, on an 80-foot boat with an 18 year old girl."

The Betsy added "I hate to dissapoint Walter but, quite frankly, he's going to end up on an 18-foot boat with his 80 year old wife."

Me: Oooh, that guy probably needs to apologize.

My sister: ALL MEN need to apologize, Bob.

About 12 years ago I spotted this figurine in a curio shop and every day since I regret I didn't get it for my bookshelf.

"Are you my lunch, Bob?"

It is down from the hills in Noe Valley and Castro that it gets high.

Either way, today didn't feel nearly as bad as previous year's smokey days. The light was a bit strange but the air didn't smell.

(Add: the cooler airflow picked up nicely down here in Noe Valley late this afternoon. Now we're waiting for the inside of the house to cool down, with all the doors and windows open.)

When I was a department store buyer, I worked in SF a few days every month.

I had a terrible sense of direction and was always trying to save money by walking. It was an education for a small town girl. I spent one Halloween wandering around trick or treating with a group of people I had just met who were all in safari gear with t-shirts that said Querassic Park. They gave me a t-shirt to bring home, which one of my kids immediately claimed as theirs.

SF was fun in the 80s.

Somehow, I always made it home in one piece.

Although I grew up in a NY suburb, I've lived in cities ever since 1975.
