It’s a long-form content post. Habla.news offers to post to a community so I picked one.

#AskNostr
This Andreas Antonopoulos ebook about the Lightning Network is available for free in a GitHub repository:
https://github.com/lnbook/lnbook
However, I cannot figure out how to take the repository and compile it into an ePub file. Dropping it into Calibre doesn't work, and I can't find instructions online.
This MUST be a simple task, yet I'm frustrated in my attempts to get an answer.
Help me, Nostr plebs; you're my only hope.
Use pandoc
I guess there is actually a NIP for this.
https://github.com/nostr-protocol/nips/blob/master/56.md
Clients and relays both can make use of these events. Whether any are actually doing anything with them is another question.
What does reporting even mean on nostr clients? Is there a NIP for this or is it client specific?
File name ending with a dot and no extension?
Did you end up trying nostr:npub109pkdu0k0dau2cz063lzrgn7dl9l7lk8u7njcm2v8pk4pl2a9uzqf6u4w5 ? If it was subscription based would that be more relevant to you than pay-as-you-go?
Not yet. Other than maybe rate limiting, are there any additional advantages over the public free instances? Faster, better trained models, anything like that?
There was a time when there was no bitcoin+no KYC option for translations through #damus. I rolled out nostr:npub109pkdu0k0dau2cz063lzrgn7dl9l7lk8u7njcm2v8pk4pl2a9uzqf6u4w5 to fix that problem and as time has gone on not too many folks are using it.
I want to help the #nostr ecosystem so I’d like some feedback on a new direction. The biggest question is whether you would consider using the service if we made this change.
I’d like to reach a bigger audience so if you repost this I’ll zap you 1k sats.
New direction:
- API keys with no balance will now show any translations that our service has already translated from other people. We have to cache translations anyway because clients send the same note multiple times as you scroll.
- price per character lowers to 0.07 sats per character instead of 0.1
Tl;dr: anyone will get already translated notes for free. If you pay for the service, which is now cheaper, you get translations on notes that haven’t been translated and in effect donate translations to other folks.
There’s pretty much no scenario we make any money with this service, (which is okay because we believe in #grownostr) and we can lower our price because of cheaper/dynamic hosting with nostr:npub1n0delesspp5qyp9sd6d4fql9g3s96k7g4yyvfmpdncpp542wvxzqksp427 thanks to nostr:npub1utx00neqgqln72j22kej3ux7803c2k986henvvha4thuwfkper4s7r50e8
I found translations from (free) LibreTranslate are pretty bad. I thought about using DeepL but it’s KYC only. I would likely pay for a no-KYC DeepL but not sure if that’s possible.
For now I’ve been translating manually with the iOS builtin translator which is actually pretty good. Possible to integrate it nostr:npub1xtscya34g58tk0z605fvr788k263gsu6cy9x0mhnm87echrgufzsevkk5s ?

First they came for our Apples and I said nothing.
Then they came for our garlic and I was silent.
What will they come for next?

Take it back.
Crypto is short for cryptography which is how nostr works.
