This is a great mindset to have and an excellent reminder, just what I needed to read today. Sometimes you might feel defeated when you hear various problems. Some might take it as a personal attack. But if one can find various solutions and use it as an opportunity to build and grow, then it is going to be a win.

Happy International Womenโ€™s Day to all women out there who inspire, who are courageous, who are radiant and kind and who keep moving forward. And a big shout out to all men who make a positive difference in womenโ€™s lives, we see you and we appreciate you.

Loved the Madeira vibe from all of you the last few days. I could feel the energy from thousands of miles away. Safe travels y'all

its so exciting, congratulations to you and big hugs to your wife!

He wants to stack some shitcoin. Was really disappointed to see this.

This has been a wacky Wednesday for me. A lot of things went wrong, but it all turned out ok.

That's all.

The rest is detail. Are you really so bored? Do you really care for all the detail? I already made my point, move on to the next more interesting post.

Oh, you're still here. Ok.

Starting by waking up dead-awake at 4am after a 36 hour fast, and not being able to go back to sleep I made steel-cut oatmeal far earlier than my normal breakfast, which overflowed the pot. I got it all back in and ate it with honey and figs. It didn't sit well, probably because it was outside of my normal feeding time.

Then I spent about 2-3 hours on nostr things. Felt better after that.

At 9 am I took the dog into the vet to have her ears cleaned, as planned. $2700. I told them I didn't have that much money (I expected maybe $800) and they changed the procedure to another one that still cleaned out her ears, but less completely.

Then while the dog was being worked on I couldn't get in touch with my friend for lunch plans (I have the worst mobile phone provider), so I drove to his work and we planned for 12:30. Then I bought new water filters for my house and came home.

At 10:30 am I felt I could have a thin soup without ruining my lunch. Unfortunately I fumbled it and dropped it hot out of the microwave onto my clothes, and the bowl shattering onto the floor with soup everywhere. That took a good 20 minutes to clean up with buckets and rags and towels. I didn't eat any soup.

So then driving back into town for lunch, I missed my turn to the shop where I was going to buy a new bowl because traffic was too much for me to change lanes. So instead I just went to my friend's work. I was ravenous now, my breakfast being light after a long fast, and it being now 7 1/2 hours since that light breakfast. But my friend already ate lunch (there was a misunderstanding). So we just talked a bit, and then I came back to get the dog and go home (and some food!).

Dog was awake (no anasthesia, just sedation) but seemed a bit off. I figured it was just the sedative. When we got home, I went to pet the dog and she squealed loudly. I thought maybe a leg cramp or a broken claw but no. Happened a second time but I still didn't notice what I had done... or what she had done to set it off.

She couldn't tip her head, kept it held low, was breathing rapidly, nervously, legs shaking, and proceeded to pace around the house trying to lie down over and over unsuccessfully. It was miserable to watch. I called the vet but no answer. Left message asking if they left something sharp in her ear, describing her symptoms. Over time though, the dog settled down, was able to sleep a bit with head flat, and later to the side, and now (6 hours later) she seems almost back to normal. Maybe the seditive wore off oddly. Maybe she slept funny while sedated and screwed up her muscles/ligaments temporarily (hell, I do that when I'm fully awake due to poor posture).

Then I went to check on the sheep and one of them was separate from the others. So I went up to it and it was fly struck (flies laid eggs on it's backside which had turned into maggots that were eating her flesh, I knew this was happening but you can't see it because it is all happening beneath the wool). Weak and not moving very quickly when approached, with flys flying about her backside areas. I went back and mixed up a bottle of Maggo and came out and went up to her, having to chase her a bit to spray Maggo all over her backside. After she started to be soaked, she felt defeated and collapsed, giving up the fight and I got right up to her and fully applied the whole bottle. I could see the maggots rise up onto her wool like businessmen in a burning skyrise jumping out of the windows for their dear lives. Several hours later I went back and she was not there, but I found her running around with other sheep, so she must have had a rest, a feed, regained her energy and I think she is going to make it.

The sheep is going to make it. The dog is going to make it. I am going to make it. I didn't get to do the grocery shopping, I have 0 bowls left, and only had a few hours to spend on nostr things. But tomorrow is another day.

Man i read all the way to the end to see if the dog was going to make it, the sheep was going to make it - phew! You'll survive, you'll be fine lol. Keep us updated on the dog and the sheep tmr!

Also, $2,700!! $%^& lol. Do you have pet insurance ?

As Sovereign Engineering comes to a close, I'd like to take some time to reflect on the past few months. It feels like it was yesterday when I was sitting in a Panera Bread in NYC listening to a Nostrovia episode when these guys nostr:npub1l2vyh47mk2p0qlsku7hg0vn29faehy9hy34ygaclpn66ukqp3afqutajft and nostr:npub1dergggklka99wwrs92yz8wdjs952h2ux2ha2ed598ngwu9w7a6fsh9xzpc mentioned a crazy idea to bring a bunch of hackers to an island in the middle of the Atlantic to work on Nostr stuff for two months. At this point I had only recently heard about Nostr, in fact, I was still debating between building on Farcaster vs Nostr ๐Ÿ˜…. By the end of that podcast I was hooked, I knew I had to find a way to get myself into the Cohort and start contributing to the future of the web. So I started working on a client, learning all about the intricacies of the protocol as I did. A constant flow of Nostr podcasts streamed into my ears, fueling the next few weeks as I put together what eventually became Flockstr. (Funny enough, Flockstr was originally supposed to be a Patreon/Substack client where users could subscribe to creators and consume long-form content). Once my MVP was done I sent DMs to a bunch of the big names on Nostr to get some feedback. Luckily, despite not having much cred to my name at the time, I got some awesome encouragement from nostr:npub1jlrs53pkdfjnts29kveljul2sm0actt6n8dxrrzqcersttvcuv3qdjynqn & Pablo which pushed me to keep going. Fast forward 4 months and now I find myself sitting in a cafe in Madeira, writing this retrospective as I get ready to return home tomorrow.

In that time I've:

1. Turned Flockstr into the first Nostr Calendar events client

2. Built Flare.pub the first YouTube/Video sharing app on Nostr

3. Built Find Me On Nostr a fun little game to spread the word about Nostr and share some sats

4. Contributed to the Nips repo

5. Visited Bitcoin Park in Nashville to meet a bunch of Nostriches like nostr:npub1qny3tkh0acurzla8x3zy4nhrjz5zd8l9sy9jys09umwng00manysew95gx, nostr:npub18ams6ewn5aj2n3wt2qawzglx9mr4nzksxhvrdc4gzrecw7n5tvjqctp424, nostr:npub1yaul8k059377u9lsu67de7y637w4jtgeuwcmh5n7788l6xnlnrgs3tvjmf, nostr:npub1atn7mlwt08erz4ap47gef92xfey65a4z9ed9vec53u5kc9v94pusl6h4x3, nostr:npub1j8y6tcdfw3q3f3h794s6un0gyc5742s0k5h5s2yqj0r70cpklqeqjavrvg, and others

6. Joined SEC-01 in Madeira where I got to work with some of the most capable developers in the space and discuss the future of the web (I could gloat more about my time in nostr:npub1s0veng2gvfwr62acrxhnqexq76sj6ldg3a5t935jy8e6w3shr5vsnwrmq5 but this is a kind 1 after all so let's keep it somewhat brief ๐Ÿ˜‚)

7. Created Seeker, an Events app for Bitcoiners built on Nostr ready to onboard the next generation of Nostriches.

8. Presented at Bitcoin Atlantis where I was able to meet some incredible people like nostr:npub1sg6plzptd64u62a878hep2kev88swjh3tw00gjsfl8f237lmu63q0uf63m, nostr:npub1az9xj85cmxv8e9j9y80lvqp97crsqdu2fpu3srwthd99qfu9qsgstam8y8, nostr:npub16c0nh3dnadzqpm76uctf5hqhe2lny344zsmpm6feee9p5rdxaa9q586nvr, nostr:npub1zuuajd7u3sx8xu92yav9jwxpr839cs0kc3q6t56vd5u9q033xmhsk6c2uc, nostr:npub1jpvsahpy0vgq7gu8nfqjkeskce0gwjk8jpss590xkvjh5xxe4epsruqgsz, nostr:npub1zjx3xe49u3njkyep4hcqxgth37r2ydc6f0d7nyfn72xlpv7n97ss73pvrl, and so many more.

All of that in just a few months. I was just checking my GitHub, and my first ever Nostr commit was Oct 5th, 2023 marking tomorrow my 5-month Nostr-anniversary. It's amazing how much can happen in such a short time. Thanks to all who I've had the pleasure of meeting so far in this journey, I can't wait to see what the next 5 months have in store. ๐Ÿงก

truly incredible and inspiring. Thank you for sharing!

A great picture. nostr:npub1l2vyh47mk2p0qlsku7hg0vn29faehy9hy34ygaclpn66ukqp3afqutajft hikes hills to find new coding spots, not surprising =)

Made some progress installing the siding on the "Fab Lab" (Trademark by nostr:npub1pvgcusxk7006hvtlyx555erhq8c5pk9svw57snlxujpkgnkup89sekdx8c ๐Ÿ˜) this weekend. Slow going, but good to get out and build something as it was a beautiful weekend.

some call it fabrication lab, some call it fabulous lab. Both are true =) Looks good!
