Enjoyed The Card Counter and probably gonna go on a Paul Schrader binge after that. Need to rewatch First Reformed (2017), not seen his collab with Bret Easton Ellis, The Canyons (2013), or Hardcore (1979).
Not sure anything's gonna top First Reformed (2017) tho, but willing to give them a go.

Hardcore is great. Did you ever see The Walker? I always thought that one was underrated - having a shallow, aging gay man as protagonist was a stroke of genius.
All that information at its disposal and the thing still has zero insight into human psychology. AI is as dumb as a brick.

This is some They Live level shit right here.

"We love the furries, don't we folks? We love the furries. Ron DeSanctimonius wants to kick them out of Florida. I tell ya, first Disney and now this - it's like he doesn't want the children to have any fun. You gotta love the furries though. You know, they'll let you grab 'em by the tail if you want - they don't mind. You gotta love the furries."

The furry vote is in play for Trump.

All roads lead back to Gregorian chant.
You don't PLAY records, you silly goose - you just put them on a shelf and hope that the vague satisfaction that comes from ownership offsets the anxiety you feel when you think of all the records you don't have.
And then we'll move on to classical...
Nah, those people are far more well-adjusted than the true jazz-head. You won't be having any fun. In fact, after a while you won't even enjoy jazz anymore - you'll just get a vague sense of superiority from collecting records no one else wants.
There is no "scene". Once you get into jazz you can kiss your social life goodbye. Once upon a time maybe you'd venture out to a record store to have an argument with some 80 year-old men about some deep lore but what with the internet now you can just use Soulseek and stay home eating catfood on toast while listening to Bud Powell.
Hoes? You mean, like, women? And jazz? In the same place?
Just one? Since you're a fan of The Dan and presumably like things smooth, maybe try Kind Of Blue. It's probably famous jazz album ever recorded but for good reason.
The best way to get into jazz though is just to immerse yourself in it for a while. If you're coming at it after a lifetime of listening to rock music the different grammar takes some getting used to.
Getting into jazz is the ultimate end-point of listening to prog. There's no better way to alienate your friends and family than becoming a jazz-head but that's fine because, like meth, it's a path to finding better friends anyway.

People treated poor Alice like she was the Yoko Ono of jazz but this album is an absolute classic in its own right. And it features the FUCKING HARP as a lead instrument.

Honestly, this cover is so much better.

One the coolest tracks to come out of one of the coolest eras of jazz. It offends me that the YouTube thumbnail isn't the same cover as my vinyl copy. I'll have to add that in the comments.

I'll post some more and tag them with #jazzstr
This is my all-time favourite jazz album, for what it's worth.
