This post is going to haunt me every time I drink Irn-Bru which, admittedly, is not that often.

This is an amazing performance - even better than the album version. It's criminal how underrated some of the English folk revival acts are compared to the rock bands of the era.

Funny how long you can keep getting annoyed at someone's shitty content in your feed before you suddenly remember you can just unfollow them.

Lol, I just got added to someone's blacklist for recommending a sympathetic biography of Joseph McCarthy.

And Diana West's American Betrayal is a good, and highly readable, backgrounder which explains the extent to which the US government had been infiltrated by Stalinists in the lead up to McCarthy's campaign.

Absolutely love Hovhaness. Check out his guitar and harp concerto if you get the chance.

Is Annihilation dude Jeff VanderMeer? I really enjoyed his earlier stuff (like City Of Saints And Madmen) so I bought Annihilation and the others in that series when they came out but then I never read them because he called for Lovecraft to be cancelled and I vowed I'd never look at another VanderMeer book ever again.

His Lovecraft bio is really good, even if you have no interest in his other stuff. His stuff is definitely depressing - imagine Ligotti but firmly within mundanity.

Ooh thanks - I'll add this to my collection of Tool memes.

The orbs are a stupid stunt but, like those twits who had themselves willingly implanted with microchips, they're a convenient meme-distraction which helps to slowly normalise all the dystopian shit your smartphone is already doing.

My 5 year-old daughter just drew me a picture of a Crystal Cookie Dragon which has three heads and shoots cookies from its mouths. When I told her it was cute, she solemnly informed me that it was a bad guy. I dunno - how bad could a dragon that shoots cookies honestly be? I suspect it's just misunderstood.

Yeah, it depends very much on the nature of the business and the clientele. I can't pretend I really understand how it all works - seems to come down to trial and error.
