If you don’t build your cognition, someone else will. https://highlighter.com/npub1p4ausrwk3ncf6gu64zcg3s5aj50fs2prr7p94jackx3m32hjyxxsy79mkq

lot of people in my life say they want to try jiu jitsu/ mma / etc but won’t commit to a trial class when offered.

the first time i ever went to a boxing gym I just sat in my car in the parking lot, severely out of shape, drug addicted, broke. I wasn’t there to meet anyone. no one knew i was there. I didn’t know anyone there. I didn’t know why I was there. I didn’t go inside.

But for me to even pull up to a gym for the first time was passing a hurdle that changed my life. the next day I held my self accountable, and returned. I just watched. The day after that I put on some borrowed gloves and participated. demonstrable intent, embracing failure.

I’ve built on that slowly. defeating core limiting beliefs by degrees. The gains have been exponential over time, tho many ups and downs. I’m not a world champion in anything, but I have learned how to learn, and embrace new and uncomfortable lifestyles & communities. Learned a lot, failed even more, but importantly just ever broadening my human experience.

My point is try new things. Say yes to people. Erase your calendar. Go camping alone. Go on a blind date. Move to thailand. You can do whatever the fuck you want in this life. Quit your job. Go broke. Take a salsa class. Volunteer at a halfway house. Talk to strangers. Buy a boat. Spray paint something. Just don’t become complacent and too comfortable. embrace, Don’t waste this inexplicable existence.

If your ambitions outpace your ability, and you are showing up for life. you can’t lose.

no need to broadcast or virtue signal that you intend to do or start something to feed your ego or mask a social insecurity. no need to be successful in the eyes of others. catch myself doing these a lot honestly.

but important to remember it’s you vs you. Others can serve as occasional benchmarks or inspiration, but how you push to improve yourself when no one is around is the only relevant measure of progress.

so just go do that new thing. enjoy it, enjoy the new people you meet and the learning process 🤙 oss

Yes 🙌🏽 🤝🏽

To be completely fair to them, their technique is often fine tuned and well presented. But the message behind the art can be….lacking.

I often dismiss these blockbuster “self help” books but I have seen conversations with Manson and he seems genuine enough.

I should probably put my biases aside. I could use some inspiration.

If you want to create art, don’t accept government “artist” grants.

You’re either creating something so mundane that it’s non-threatening to the state, or you’re creating something in service of the state.

I’m Canadian so this is basically our entire music, art, and film scene.

I have friends in these industries and they would probably take offence to this statement.

But they aren’t on Nostr so I don’t have to get in retarded arguments today, thankfully.

Is it just me, or are ya’ll constantly reminded that the same people have followed you on nostr:nprofile1qqs9xtvrphl7p8qnua0gk9zusft33lqjkqqr7cwkr6g8wusu0lle8jcq9vhrm?

Something I think about often is the spectrum on which horror and awe sit.

Over the past decade I’ve been building a life that I cherish. I’m in awe of how much beauty you can create in your life when care is taken to develop it.

On the flip side of that, now that I have a life worth living, I have something to lose. The thought of that can invoke a sense of horror.

Both awe and horror can open us up to the world.

I try to balance them both.

When my life inspires awe, I try to savour it in that moment.

When the thought of losing it inspires horror, I meditate on how much it means to me to be here. It makes me kinder in that moment.

I wish I could say I was perfectly kind all the time, but I need to remind myself to be.

It all comes down to what we already know, but need to be constantly reminded of.

We only have this moment.

Keep building for the future, but always stop to recognize what you’ve already built.

Using Bitkit for lightning payments and you can easily swipe to hide balance. I presume this to be mostly an issue with mobile wallets as I’m not generally opening a desktop wallet in view of anyone but myself.

This is just outside of Nosara, Costa Rica! 🇨🇷

Agreed. And not to pick on the boomers, but they are super susceptible to these scams.

A friend called me the other day because his dad wanted to invest in a new “Canadian government backed crypto”. Whatever that means.

He’s a successful man, not a dumb man, but he was ready and willing to “invest” in this fake coin. Which to the inexperienced boomer, is just synonymous with Bitcoin.

I said get your dad off Facebook before he loses your inheritance.

More education sorely needed.

If you’re into #Bitcoin and want to feel how living on it works come to #SouthAfrica and travel along the Garden Route.

You’ll find many places accepting BTC on @btcmap you can visit nostr:npub1zkr064avsxmxzaasppamps86ge0npwvft9yu3ymgxmk9umx3xyeq9sk6ec @bitcoinloxion @bitcoinwitsand purchase food, clothes, electricity and pay your municipal bills at any PicknPay.

I‘m trying to visit as many places I can to incentivize the early adopter merchants to stick to accepting it. Some waiters are intimidated other cashiers seem to be totally used to it.

Been spending as often as I can at the stores, cafes and restaurants that accept bitcoin in Guatemala. Often I get a look that tells me I’m the first person to ask to pay in bitcoin in a while. One store in particular always tells me the phone to accept payment isn’t charged. I’ve had some eye rolls.

But then there’s a few businesses who understand it and they want to keep the bitcoin rather than convert to local currency. So they’re excited to take my sats. It’s definitely up to us to keep spending and spreading the dats around! Love to see it.
