Nice. My wife has been itching to see him live, we've had a few artists to get off our "want to see live list" - most recently saw Dave Hause, at a small show in November, we've been wanting to see him for years.
My wife is a big fan of his. While I'm not a huge fan, his performance of "When I Close My Eyes" with Choir Choir Choir is stunning.
Canadian here. I'll say that I've traveled to the US many times and find Americans to be welcoming and friendly.
When you travel the world you realize that people are just people: generally honest, decent, caring people. It's politicians, rulers, and leaders that poison everything.
Yeah I don't know. I think it's pretty gross that despite the fact I'm not following Elon, I still sometimes get notifications when he posts.
Agreed. While I don't like to be dismissive of concerns, the "threat to our democracy" claim always feels hyperbolic.
On the note of people praising when their team does something, I always try my best to remind people of a simple litmus test for policy: remember that the other team will have the same policy that they can use when they're in power - are you still okay with it? If the answer is "no", then it's a bad policy.
I dunno. I live in Canada where the winter is cold and I'm old enough to remember how unreliable carberator-started vehicles were. The block heater *had* to be plugged in every day, and you still pumped the gas and prayed every morning that it would start. I pretty much never plug my cars' block heaters in and they always start first try, even when it's -40 (C or F).
I know that's a fuel injection thing, not necessarily a computer thing, but I don't miss how unreliable the older cars were (pre-1990s).
I don't have one, but if I did, I wouldn't get rid of it. I would unplug it turn when I'm home, and then turn it on when the house is empty and make it listen to 1984 on Audiobook on loop.
I don't know if you suffer from this problem with your engineering background, but I find for me, having written scientific journal articles, the general norm is to use passive voice - therefore I find myself using it more than I should.
When I throw a ball for my dog she just gives me a look of "Yeah, and? What do you want me me to do with that?"
It's a Norwegian Elkhound thing I think, my last one was the same way.
So wait, you're both total legends? Remember us plebs when you conquer the world :)
I thought of the classic Homer Simpson quote:
"If you're going to get mad at me every time I do something stupid then I'm just going to have to stop doing stupid things!"
There are going to be those that applaud this because they will say that violent and/or destructive actions at a protest should be condemned. I would agree. Having said that, it's important that we not conflate violent/destructive actions with the act of protesting (setting aside the fact he pardoned those involved in illegal actions on Jan 6). But what he did say was 1) "illegal protests", not "illegal actions at a protest", and 2) he said that the colleges and universities would be held liable - places that are supposed to be havens of free speech and expression (setting aside that they sometimes don't live up to this ideal) - rather than the individuals committing the acts of violence/destruction.
This is a very disturbing statement, and all Americans should be deeply troubled by this.
I'm reminded of the quote by Henry Jones Sr at the end of Indian Jones and the Last Crusade:
"Elsa never really believed in the grail. She thought she'd found a prize."
That pretty much sums up how I believe that this administration sees Bitcoin.
Just do curbside pickup and avoid the unwashed masses :)
This is wild to me! TLDR, extract tooth from patient’s mouth, insert lens into tooth, insert tooth in eye - voila! 👀

That is absolutely wild.
So glad I deleted my X account over a year ago.
There's certainly some proportion of the institutional guys that are triggering a dump that panics retail and then they buy back cheaper.
Having said that I'm always happy to get coins at a discount.
