Adding to the companies mentioned un other comments, there's also some interesting work going on developing open hardware and open software for #bitcoinmining .

You can follow the progress on some projects: #bitaxe (by nostr:npub1ql2zzp3g6yndgz05js7wdc4qkr88wkyne5nw2cc7csrtzqs0yeesgwrxya ) or #nerdminer (by bitmaker@nostrplebs.com, still not using ASIC though)

An S9, I guess.

May I ask where did you get it?

I stopped reporting these bots on Twitter long ago.

It was not working, and more importantly it seems Twitter doesn't really care to make it easier to us reporting them.

No.

But you can use it just with small amounts for sending and receiving zaps.

And use a a self custody wallet for any significant amount of sats.

Please note that #nerdminers is not ASIC mining, so its mining efficiency is very low. Thus its percentage of the global Hashrate would be unnoticeable, and I guess no block would have been mined on any of them.

Even if Nerdminer's efficiency (W/THs) were equivalent of ASIC, think of it in energy terms:

Each netminder consumes 1W per year.

Now think in the thousands and thousands of ASIC miners consuming 2 or 4 KWh!!

Nothing remotely close.

Some users will indeed explore and learn.

But we can't expect all of them to learn what "depth 2 of 3" means.

We must do better in order to allow the maximum number of users to become self-sovereign.

But that UI is just for power users.

Too messy for the plebs.

Compare it with Phoenix, for example.

Too much simpler UI.

Really nice idea!
