If you're not getting one of these regularly, are you really even living?

Could be something. Could be nothing. Michael Burry, hedge fund manager of Scion Holdings, and the man who predicted the 2008 housing crisis, characterized in the movie "The Big Short", just released data indicating that his firm bought 4,000,000 PUT options on the SP500 and Nasdaq. According to the Reuters article, the price per share and expiration dates were not indicated, so there are still questions involving when Mr. Barry expects to see results and how much he actually wagered against this bet.

Incredible! I'm earning record (for me) Sats on #Fountain today listening to a podcast that I would have listened to for free. Thank you Fountain.fm and nostr:npub1h8nk2346qezka5cpm8jjh3yl5j88pf4ly2ptu7s6uu55wcfqy0wq36rpev for providing this valuable opportunity!

That's a negative Ghost Rider. That's only if she's already in the US when she gives birth, and pregnancy does not constitute an emergency for expedition purposes either. Getting her there is the problem. Indonesia is not among the countries listed in our visa waver program so for her to even come here as a tourist she would have to have a visa approved prior to travel, and being that we have already filed for a fiance visa, a tourist visa would is unlikely to be approved as they would suspect that we were intent on getting married during her 90 day stay. Even if a tourist visa were approved and we were to get married during her visit, her green card could be denied forcing her to return to Indonesia and possibly baring her from reentry in the future.
The immigration process for the US is such bullshit. I filed my application for my fiance over a year ago and they still haven't processed it. What's really messed up is that even though I live in Mississippi the USCIS center that processes applications for my region is based in California, and of course they're flooded with applicants wanting to cross the southern border. Current wait time for my region is 16.5 months, if it were processed in Nebraska (which is actually closer) the wait time would have only been 4.5 months.
On the USCIS website it specifically states that a death in the family qualifies for an emergency expedite request. Her mother died in 2020 during the covid epidemic, and her father recently died from cancer. I filed for the expedite request but was denied almost immediately. I read that the consulate (in our case Jakarta) was responsible for visa approval and I found the contact information for the fiance visa department and have been calling them and emailing them for days with no response. I'm beginning to wonder if anyone works there at all.
Anyone out there in the #Nostr community have any suggestions?

Electricity can be very dangerous. This is why it's important to properly secure electrical circuits. In the picture below you can see service conductors coming into contact with the ridge of the house. Even though the service conductors are insulated, vibrations and movement due to wind and rain will eventually erode the insulation leaving the conductors bare. During heavy rain events the rainwater itself could become energized causing a potentially lethal shock to anyone in contact with the watershed. Exposed conductors also pose a risk for fire. The minimum distance required for a service conductor to pass over a house is 3ft. If your service conductors are less than 3ft from the surface of your roof, you should consult a qualified electrician for evaluation.

I think its about time I stop simply creeping on Nostr and start adding value.
In October 2022, my house caught fire and burnt to the ground. Fortunately I was able to get my family and pets out safely. I bought the house following the 2008 financial crisis. The house was sold as-is and the inspector failed report several deficiencies that I later found during renovations. Even though the deficiencies that I found were corrected, the house was very old with several additions so I'm sure I was unable to locate them all. The post-fire report indicated that the fire was likely due to an electrical issue originating from the utility room.
Since then I have been studying with #InterNATCHI in pursuit of a home inspectors license so that one day perhaps I can save someone from the misfortune that we faced. No one should lose their entire life in one night.
Starting today I will be sharing deficiencies that I find in my inspections with the Nostr community and explaining potential hazards associated with them. My hope is that just by sharing this information, maybe it can help you avoid catastrophe too.

If it's something I would be interested in (your new book perhaps), I'd actually want both. I prefer to listen when consuming knowledge as I do not usually have the time to sit and read. However, I do like to stack my bookshelf with reference material.
We NeEd To BaN BaMbOo!
I dont find either of them particularly racist. I don't listen to country music anymore but I grew up un a small town and the sentiment is true. We took care of our own, we were suspicious of foreigners, we didn't allow violence even among our own. Unfortunately after the North American Free Trade Agreement passed, a company from Japan bought the local factory and sold off pieces of it which was the only real source of income for the community other than farming, but there were very few independent farmers left and the remaining land was slowly purchased by a large seed company. Then as the people moved out to find better jobs, meth slowly creeped in like a cancer and destroyed what was left of the community.
I've been living abroad in #Indonesia for the past several months and I see a lot of similarities with my new families culture and the culture of that small town when I was a child. They take care of thier own, they are suspicious of foreigners, they don't allow violence even among their own. While I do not follow their religious beliefs, I do think that this is one of the things that bind them together and allows for a more homogeneous society. Drugs are strictly prohibited, much to my dismay because I would regularly microdose cannabis in the US and it still carries the potential death penalty here. However, you won't find syringes in the streets, or zombie-like people. "Gang" violence is minimal and mostly just boys who were never taught how to be men. The only thing that hold this place down is the constant debasement of the Rupiah. #Bitcoin fixes this, and I'm on a mission to orange pill every person I talk to.
Sounds about like the Indonesia Rupiah, although they do have much larger denominations. Their largest denomination, 100,000 idr is equivalent to $6.66 USD. They also observe the practice of returning small change, less than 500 Rupiah, in pieces of candy.
I recently read that Indonesia is in the process of creating a national crypto currency exchange. Bappebti plans to roll out the exchange sometime this month. Some reports say that this will be the ONLY exchange permitted to operate in Indonesia which, I'm sure, would be much more inefficient than exchanges that currently operate in the country. I'm hoping this is just a poor translation because I've been here for the past couple months orange-pilling my wife's family and community, and they would much prefer to use the new lightning transfers option to Binance since many of the transactions would be smaller than on-chain network fees. Perhaps your team could reach out to Ridwan Kamil or Samson Mow to discuss the future of Bitcoin in Indonesia?
This is actually pretty awesome. I've been in Indonesia for the past couple months orange-pilling my wife's family and neighbors. They've been asking what exchange they can use to buy BTC and the only one we have experience with is Luno. It would be great for them to be able to transfer small amounts of Bitcoin without incurring the on-chain network fees.
I have to wonder how Indonesias new national exchange Bappebti will be rolling out this month (supposedly) will affect things. I read that it will be the ONLY crypto exchange permitted in Indonesia. What are your thoughts?

My latest batch of salted duck egg yolks is ready. I also just finished a batch of Rye Whiskey whole seed mustard (mustard caviar) and found some awesome fermented sausage on the last Costco run.
There shall be charcuterie tonight.

My wife is from Indonesia and went to college in Singapore. One of her favorite dishes is chicken with salted duck egg (yolk). It's basically chicken cut into bite size pieces that's been lightly battered and glazed with a sauce made from salted duck egg (yolk), birds eye chilies, garlic, curry leaves, butter, and coconut cream (or condensed milk). I wish I could eat it, but I have an allergy to duck egg 😅
"Permit me to issue and control the money of a nation, and I care not who makes its laws. Mayer Anselm Rothschild, 1790" Ironically, his sons Nathan and Jakob funded both sides of the Napoleonic War. It didn't matter who the victor would be, the family still won.
I haven't really been very active on Nostr lately. This is mostly because in April my father-in-law was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer and I made an emergency trip back to Indonesia to be with my wife and her family during this difficult time. It's been almost two weeks since his passing. Asep Darmawan, you will be missed.

Wow, that was 9 years ago. If it was just under 1000 Bitcoin then...now those same Bitcoin would be worth 27million USD. The lesson here is, don't sell your Bitcoin, not even for a house, get a loan on your bitcoin, then buy the house with fiat. #hodl
