It was always the best idea anyway.
Fuck KYC and financial repression.
Sorry, but how is this surprising?
Bitcoin is transparent,by coinjoining your attempt to gain privacy is glaringly obvious. Your coins now have a new history: you took steps to erase their history.
Base layer Bitcoin is not fungible. This is a manifestation of that, and it was always obvious that the usual control freaks would leverage the choke points to penalize anyone and everyone who attempts to gain privacy in a transparent-by-design system.
The transparency works against you (and me, and all of us) because the power differential between us and the State is astronomical.
See what they did to the banks & legacy banking system? Deputized them, put surveillance into every transaction, guilty until proven innocent "where did you get this money pleb?" dynamics?
Did anyone expect they would not attempt the same with crypto?
It's their wet dream, a permanent record of transparent transactions.
And not enough people get it yet. The transparency... is not our friend.
You can bet the baffoons are gonna try and cripple Lightning at the chokepoints too - even though privacy is not its raison d'être, compared to onchain it's vastly more private.
They don't like that. It means you could escape paying your protection racket fee. It has fuck all to do with money laundering or terrorism, it's all about robbing you to the last satoshi with perfect precision.
And having a permanent record of all activity.
Well, me personally no I have not, never had social media, always on Tor/VPNs, always e2ee IM, etc.
But I'm one of the few, and so I've slowly watched what you describe happening in slow motion over the years.
If the unthinking idiots who perpetuate this state of affairs would be the one to suffer the consequences of their ignorant stupidity, whatever, karma and all.
But no. Everyone, including those who did think things through, is dragged down by the idiocy.
Oh well. Vote with your feet and all that.
How's the vibe there? In terms of people, friendliness, safety, etc.
Might visit soon!

🚨 Brazil's Censorship Regime Becomes Even More Despotic
Monark, "Brazil's Joe Rogan," is now being criminally investigated and fined ~$75,000 for online conduct—fully silencing the once mega-popular podcaster without any due process.
This is what's coming for everyone.
The West is using Brazil as its censorship laboratory, learning how to implement and escalate their totalitarian assault on free expression.

What makes you think this is "The West" behind the scenes, rather than local shenanigans? (honest question)
Time preference yes, but also (and imo more deeply) about ego.
It's me me me out there, wanting to be seen, wanting to be talked about, wanting to be liked, spiced with lots of self-delusion ("healthy at any size" / etc) to keep said ego happy - all the while making it more and more fragile, also.
I've seen this kind of thing here as well, but empirically nowhere near as much as normie social media, which I've never used because a cursory glance at it revealed that ego reigned supreme there, distraction was everywhere and also for some reason a lot of angry people.
Meditation & psychedelics I'm telling you, would put things into perspective for a lot of people.
But it's the hard road, and the road less traveled, so I doubt it will ever happen - people tend to go the path of least resistance, often but not always unconsciously: avoid the pain of growing&changing, embrace the transient and cheap pleasure du moment (another like, some porn, sugary food, whatever).
Yeah.. fun times on Earth.
The question is that the narrative tells us it's bad humans with bad economic systems (oh look, trying to take down capitalism again, I wonder about the political inclinations of the vast majority of those people!) that are driving the changes, and that therefore the bad humans should atone for their sins and the bad economic system should be dismantled.
For this, extremely strong and concentrated overwhelming centralized power is needed, and just like in Communiat utopias of the past, you can be sure they will let the power go once it's consolidated (... not).
It's all about fear mongering and propaganda, unfortunately people generally fall for it, and Leviathan grows.
I'm not entirely up to date on the situation, but did not Ripple win?
So are they not abusing their power and bullying the CEX?
Look, I don't use anything on that list besides Ethereum (and nowdays even barely that), but I don't think it's right to celebrate government coercion.
If people wanna dabble in "shitcoins", more power to them! We'll be stacking sats anyway, what do we care.
At least that's my take on it. Do you agree?
100K of monero thats gas 😂 You buying if from kyc exchange today? Buying it with kyc free Bitcoin maybe…? You using cash and buying it from thousands of small sellers or holding it from a time it was worth 500K? 🤣 You monero shitcoiners are almost as delusional as xrp babies are, HFSP.

Yes, you totally addressed and refuted all the points I brought up, I yield to your superior intellect.
It takes quite a big amount of hubris and ignorance to call #monero a shitcoin.
So much of this black and white thinking here.
Try sending 100,000 EUR worth of sats over lightning, let me know how that goes.
Also which wallet are you using? Is the remote note calculating the route (Phoenix does this)? Well then, they know the destination and you have no privacy.
What if your adversary controls enough nodes over the payment path? You got no privacy.
Now, am I saying lightning is useless? Far from it, I use it almost every day, just like #monero.
Each one has better and worse developed sides, some different tradeoffs - lightning UI/UX is generally much better than #monero for example, and transactions feel much faster too, even if you allow for zero-conf on the monero side.
Both are great tools, they have different tradeoffs, and most of the hardcore Bitcoiners I know understand this and respect #monero (and usually also use it themselves).
So you cannot tell me in good conscience that #monero is a shitcoin.
Or I guess you can, but then I'm not gonna take you seriously.
