The best way to learn is by doing. Theres great guides available to walk through the steps and one of the reasons i like raspibolt.org for raspberry pi based nodes. For intel/amd architectures, awhile ago someone ported and made a guide called minibolt at v2.minibolt.info These guides do it step by step at command line and you can learn quite a bit along the way

Thats the power supply. Its limit is 180w. It doesnt draw that much on the regular.

The Umbrel Home is basically a $400 NUC whose power draw should idle around 10-12 watts, with activity around 30-40 watt or so.

The Dell Optiplex power supply can accomodate up to 180 watt draw if ever needed. Id speculate itd idle a little higher around 14 watts and actively be pushing around 65-70. Where im at that translates to an operational cost difference of about $40/year. So in theory, if this node remains in service longer than 5 years it may be cheaper to have gotten a NUC.

This new bitcoin node im working with is a Dell Optiplex 5050 SFF i5 with 16GB ram that came with 256 nvme preloaded with windows as a refurb that i swapped out and put in a 2TB nvme for Linux

It was advertised as a i5-7500, but turns out I got an i5-7600 instead. Wont complain about a bit faster speed 3.5GHz vs 3.4) as well as the top end (4.1GHz vs 3.8). Motherboard supports up to 64GB of ram for future expansion and ive got 2 sata ports if i need them (one in use by an optical drive)

Cost $120 for the Dell, and $77 for the nvme for a total cost under $200.

over time my raspberry pi nodes will be used more and more for Nodeyez and Bitcoin will end up in pruned mode if even still running on them.

New bitcoin node online and synched to 808076. Now synching block filter index and coinstatsindex which are at about 472000 and 218000 respectively while transferring fulcrum

makes entering and exiting easier and more civilized

ive used it before. have probably installed more times than windows come to think of it

who knows what this is

Mostly backend and I favor Python, Golang, C. My front end web development is raw HTML, Javascript, CSS, no frameworks - i made a conscious decision around 2003 to focus on backend as teams I was on needed someone to fill data and security gaps. For game like development I prefer C# and Unity. Actually for any windows development C# is preferred.
