We need less politics in our lives, and the only way to trend that way is to have less policies affecting our lives.

As this rent seeking class rules every aspect of our lives, we must keep playing the game and affect outcomes towards the ones with a preference-set least detrimental to us.

- Full political apathy is dumb, you get captured.

- Voting is dumb, you don’t count because it’s rigged.

- Money maters, giving politicians cover maters, shaping public perception maters, supporting policy “think tanks” and lobbying maters.

But ultimately, separating state and money with bitcoin is our best chance.

This would be cool. Like what Musk wanted for Twitter. But made real in part by good money. In the spirit of responding to this post, I worry the human will just be too slow to contribute much processing power compared to the coming AI nodes.

As you stare off into the void and contemplate the possibilities of nostr, what are some of the cool ideas which come to mind?

Exactly. When people accuse others of “just wanting an echo chamber” what they are really saying is “I don’t want you to disagree with me.” They falsely think that every viewpoint can be hashed out enough that both sides will come to some middle ground. Middle grounds are not always possible. It’s why friendships end, partnerships are broken, marriages dissolve, and so on. Sometimes we simply, perhaps painfully, disagree. At the point I become resolute enough in my worldview to know it’s the way I want to live, I don’t need to hash out every foundational principle over and over. I’m happy to share my perspectives with those who are curious, and I may be curious enough about someone else’s differing views to learn more about them, but ultimately if someone disagrees they disagree. My life is too short to try and militantly impose my views on a person until they feign agreement, or to allow others to do the same to me, especially strangers online day in and day out. Unfollow, mute, block, whatever, and move on.

Sure, but rarely people step outside their comfort zone. And I am not saying that you can be part of a community (which by definition shares a lot of your beliefs)

I disagree. I see a clear tendency of many people denying reality, not interested in a diverse perspective and just sticking to those people that confirm their views. I think it's a real problem of society but then again everybody is free to choose to stay in their little world.

This meme is a bit tongue in cheek, but not entirely. I think the term “echo chamber” gets misused and thrown around like other terms that sound virtuous but are really only meant to shut up people you disagree with. Who honestly wants to live their life in constant controversy, dueling with everyone around them? Finding peace in what you believe, living true to yourself, and enjoying life with other like-minded people sounds amazing to me, and it doesn’t preclude you from being challenged and growing. The great thing about an open protocol like Nostr is that anyone can cultivate whatever social environment they want with others who want a similar experience. You don’t have to behave any particular way on Nostr; only perhaps on certain relays.

Let’s say I want to reward the project team behind Damus but I as an outsider am lacking transparent information on who those contributors are it’s going to be hard for me to pay with conviction (and larger amounts). It’s not going to scale because people are not going to be willing to make large payments without this transparency.

However, if the project team has an intelligent and non bureaucratic way of sharing who their key contributors are, I can make make a much larger payment
