Pro Tip of the Day: so with every vehicle I’ve ever had that had a separate key and keyless entry fob, I’ve always kept the fob in a different pocket (I’ve had lots of time standing outside my vehicle looking at the keys inside my vehicle), so that way I’d always have the fob on me in case I forgot the key. Well, I relied on that trick this morning and shot myself in the foot.
See, I’m trying to cut back on the caffeine (again) so I woke up with a horrible headache. I got up, got dressed, wife and kids were still asleep so I jumped in the ol ToolFinder and ran down the street to get a monster. Decided to leave it running for the heat, but it was fairly busy so I decided to lock the doors, since my key fob was in my pocket. Get my stuff, head back to the vehicle, and the key fob doesn’t work….apparently with the engine running the key fob is disabled…so I call my buddy who was luckily awake (it was about 630 am at this point), he came and got me and ran me to the house where we then had to creatively break in my own house (house key is attached to the vehicle keys which were locked in the vehicle and I was trying to not wake up the wife or kids).
Basically, that whole story is to say that if you plan to leave your vehicle running, make sure you check to see if the key fob works to unlock the door before you do it lol

So, since my diesel truck has to be plugged in on cold nights to warm the block (it’s a 92, all mechanical, and probably needs a new glow plug controller but haven’t gotten to it yet), I’ve been wanting to add a small charger just to give the batteries a little wake up too, so I made it happen with an old surge protector and an $8 500ma Harbor Freight charger lol
