I think reaper is working, and it's not so expensive (I'm not using it right now). But a DAW without vsts is nothing (for me that work basically woth midi). There are some good soft for basics, but things like kontakt, play from east west... no. Maybe you can set up all the things via wine, but as I remember the performance is very poor (if possible).

Linux is perfect for all except for music. I've been unable to get my vsts work decently and did not find any music notation software with reasonable features. So I keep always a computer for music purpouses without linux.
For the rest, I've been in linux for years (the times of ubuntu 6) and it's the best decision I made. Lots of learning but also lots of freedom to get things working as I want

Days ago I set up a pretty indoor to go through winter and it seems to be working nice!
I host over 30 music / podcast feeds on my digitalocean server (very inexpensive) as well as ipfs.
If you visit https://ipfspodcasting.net/Feed all but 11 "podcasts" in the top half are hosted by me and are served through IPFS.
All you really need is a place to host your RSS file and songs that is publicly available. Then submit it to podcastindex,org
ipfspodcasting.net provides a redirect that fetches the mp3 from an ipfs node and serves it through a public gateway automatically.
Here is an example of how the redirect works.
If you put ipfs podcasting into your splits then it incentivises ipfs nodes to pin your mp3 file as they get a portion of the split.
As far as needing a domain; I don't know of any podcast players that support the ipfs protocol natively so the ipfspodcasting redirect to to gateway is the only way that I know of to get ipfs to work.

Before I assumed that I could use my own ipfs node as host and serve music exclusively from there and instead of a domain use the pure cid of the files. Learning about rss, music and options here, by now I'm interested in MSP. I have the doubt about if it's possible to host my music on IPFS and serve it from there with the CID to podcast 2.0, or I need some other storage or VPS... with a domain?

At the end of 2023 my work "La pubilla de Lloret" was premiered. This is a sardana, the mational dance of Catalonia that follows its own rules ans is interpreted by the cobla, a peculiar group of instruments with some interesting ones. The double bass use to have three strings and it's called "la berra", then there are two tenores and two tibles that are doible reed instruments with a very unique and powerful sound. Also there is a valve trombone, trumpets, fiscorn... Well, you can take a hear.

The absolute best solution (by far) that we have come across is rss + zaps (Lightning bitcoin). Rss has been around for... idk... like >10 yrs or something?! So you know its a proven tech. It has now integrated lightning zaps (bitcoin) thus creating what's known as "podcast 2.0". But it's not limited to podcasts, it's incredible for music too.
Using a host like rssblue.com or similar (tons of options) you can easily self host your music using "rss feeds". Both audio and video in some cases. One of the secret sauces is zap integration. Listeners can send you bitcoin directly and instantly. They can choose to send bitcoin to you sorta like a one time tip (called zaps or boosts) or they can stream bitcoin to you by the minute for as long as they're listening. They can even send you comments along with their zaps/boosts (sometimes called boostagrams).
The second secret sauce is you (and anyone who sets up their own feed) can set the splits for every track they release onto their own feed. So money (bitcoin) sent through the zaps/boosts, goes directly to your personal wallet and/or anyone else you chose to cut in on the split.

Anyways, it doesnt hurt that bitcoin is the best form of money and keeps going up in value as all other currencies plummet against it. Bitcoin is worth over $100k per bitcoin (~1,000 sats = $1) and there are a lot of headwinds pointing to it going parabolic soon.
There is already an established and thriving ecosystem here with explosive growth ahead of us.
