Trying out these seed starting trays I found on Amazon. My seed starting mix was a little hydrophobic; water was beading up on it when I tried watering. I ended up using a spray bottle to moisten the top without making the seeds float away. I’m sure there’s a better way but I don’t know it yet. I’m open to pointers. #grownostr #gardening #homestead

Sorry to keep posting on all your pics here but you share interesting stuff! I want to grow BSF but I’ve never seen them here (zone 5 northern Illinois). Do you know if they’d survive here or if its worth it to start a new colony every spring? My quail love to eat the freeze dried ones but they’re $$$
